Picture it - Jersey, Feb 2002, my computer room. Here I am looking over the Toy Fair pics, when I end up seeing the display peices of the two speeders for the AOTC. I'm getting REALLY excited now, since now we're getting some really neat looking vehicles with awesome background potential.

Fast forward to a few days ago. I finally manage to get these things, and you know something? These thigns are the most God awful peices of crap.

While I don't have an AOTC Anakin or Obi-Wan yet, I did try some other figures in Anakin's speeder, which of course the box SAYS is compatable with "most" other figuers. This is not the case, since out of the ones I tested (from the begining of POTF2 onward), only one or two actually fit, and that was only one at a time. Oddly enough, G.I.Joe, Jurassic Park 3, 21st Century's XD figures, they all fit, and can have someone riding shotgun. So, it looks like William H. Macy is gonna end up getting the flying banana boat as his persoanl Jedi escort car.

Zam's speeder on the other hand, while it does actually fit who it's supposed to, and can fit other figures, it is a pain in the *** just getting them in there. Lets not even get into the problems with getting the figure OUT, which is worse. The WORST part of this thing though is the fact that the rear spike things don't come off with ease, so it's next to impossibnle to store this thing in it's box. I had to resort to using a screwdriver to get them out, then I had to get scissors to hold the clips so I could put them back in.

The action features work fine, and aren't unwelcome. I dont' mid them at all, but the paint on Zam's is VERY tacky, and I'm just hoping that neither ends up harding and cracking in a few years, but I doubt that won't happen images/icons/frown.gif .

So, overall, while these may kinda be worth getting, just don't get them for any actual Star Wars figures. Jsut give them to your WWII figures, and let them battle it out over Normandy in flying cars or something. Or wait for the MIB2 figures to get realsed and save these things for them.

I found zam's to be very cool. The smashing feature it very nifty and looks like what happened in the movie. As for the tail fins well I suppose I must be the only person who doesnt store items in the box.

I wouldnt want to take the fins off taking them on and off weakens them. Once put together it like the sail skiff should stay out of the box. And heck its good enough to stay out on display.

As for figs fitting in it. Well I found all my figures (minus the dramatic pose ones) fit in it except for my buff c3po. THey do have to lay it it like its a coffin but Sebulba fits nicely in it and looks like he's driving.

It's just that you simly cannot get her in there to fit that "pose". I keep looking for someone to tell me that the top part of the speeder comes off so you can pose her in there ala any other ship, but after a good half hour of trying to figure it out, I couldn't.

Still, I will give high points for the "smash" feature. While the "non-smashed" version isn't *quite* there (although fine for Anakin's) I was really impressed with how close the "smash" matches what's on the screen. Even my girlfriend poked my shoulder during the movie!

Relax, relax guys!

Haven't you learned anything from what hasbro does?

First we are getting a jedi starfighter obi wan fig for the starfighter since the regular one doesn't fit.

And secondly you just watch hasbro make obi wan and anakin speeder driver figures that are specifically made to fit into them. I will almost bet my house on it that they will make thses figures! images/icons/grin.gif

In truth though I am pissed off with the way the characters that are meant to fit in the ships don't fit in them. Jango and slave 1 are fine, zam and her speeder I can live with too. But why oh why was there no figs of obi wan and anakin to fit the speeders and starfighter respectively upon inital release?

Messa give up! images/icons/mad.gif
