View Full Version : What kind of car do you own/drive?

A thread on another board got me to wondering - what kind of car do you all have?

Last year, I had to sell the first car I'd bought, my '92 Jeep YJ. Turns out it just wasn't a good family car. So we decided to get a nice 4-door sedan instead of a minivan (never!). It's a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (http://members.home.net/markandnat/Gtpa.jpg), with all the bells and whistles (well, I did have to give up my Jeep after all! http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif). One of the reasons I don't have as much money for toys/props as I'd like! http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

So show us your wheels!!

My podracer is a 2000 Saturn SL2. Ever since I heard of Saturn starting up in the early 90's, I've wanted one. Well, It was time for me to buy a car fairly recently, so I went for it. I LOVE it! And one if these days I will be getting plates for it that say podracer too!

I drive a '93 Nissan Altima GLE. It's got Leather, Alloy Wheels, heads up display, sunroof, power everything. It is certainly the nicest car I have ever owned. It's almost like a little Infiniti. I used to drive Jeeps, but after the third one got totaled (not my fault), I just gave up.

I also drive my GF's Pontiac Aztec all of the time. While it is ugly on the outside, it is really cool on the inside, and drives really well.

I have a Red 1996 Ford Mustang V6 Coupe. It was my little reward for torturing myself for 4 years of hell in college. I test drove the V8 and decided against it when I saw the insurance price. I am thinking of trading it in when I pay it off and getting a new 4x4. I love my car though especially right now when the weather is starting to warm up and the snow is melting. Time to roll down the window, slip on the shades and crank some Pearl Jam and just drive...Saw things so much clearer

I have a 1996 Dodge Stratus. I have put over 104 thousand miles on it commuting to collage. I has never broke down or needed major repairs. I have been through 3 sets of tires and replaced the brakes twice other than that I haven't had to fix anything on it. It's a great car http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I drive a '94 Toyota 4 Runner. It's fully loaded, leather, sunroof, power everything. I would like to get a brush bar put on, but I'm addicted to collecting. Every extra buck is spent before I even touch it. I've had it for 3 years. Last year had to get some transmission work done. Since then I haven't had a problem.

'95 VW Jetta. Real cute little car. She's getting to the age now where I can put stickers on the back and make her into a hippie-mobile. My wife says Jetta is "gold," but I know she's "Champaign."

My first car, a white, 1990 Geo Prizm GSi was totalled last Easter in a severe fender bender after 10 years and 123,000 miles of driving pleasure.

Luckily, I already had a back-up car, my black, 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX.

I feel your pain.....

I drive a fire engine red 1996 Dodge Avenger ES. It was my reward for passing the CPA exam. My plates read "Rogue 1".

I love this car dearly, but I am sorta getting "new car" fever. I've been thinking SUV, either Chevy Blazer or Dodge Dakota.

I drive a 93 Thunderbird. Its paid for, which is all that matters right now, but it will have to be replaced soon (I'm waiting to see how the new Nissan Z car is gonna be). My wife drives a 00 Honda Civic.

My first car was a 97 Cavlier, but I got a job working at Ford, I traded it in and got a 2000 Mustang.
If you are looking for a new SUV, get the Ford Escape, it is a great car, and it is built by a SW fan so you are supporting your own.

A 1990 Cougar (just got a CD player installed, the tape deck was getting a serious "mucnhie" fetish) & a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. Mom primarily drives the Cougar (because of the automatic seatbelts), but I've been driving it a lot here lately. Wonder why? http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif The Marquis is pretty much my "baby", but what a big baby it is. http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm currently leasing a 2000 Ford Ranger. Fantastic vehicle (except for the mileage). What I really want to get is one of those new Volkswagen Mini-buses. A more modern version of the old hippy vans. Just like the new Bug to the old Bug. Sharp!

04-05-2001, 11:29 PM
HOLY S***! I had NO IDEA SW fans drove so many domestics!

I currently drive a 2001 Acura CL-S (http://www.waynewmedia.com/images/type-s_1.jpg) and I'm on the wait list for the next-generation NSX although I'm still debating the E46 M3, the Mercedes AMG C32 or the Jaguar XJR.

04-06-2001, 12:12 AM
I drive a '98 Buick Century, and we just bought my wife a '01 Cavalier. I need a lot of leg room, and the Buick had the most leg room in its price range, plus a lot of other features I liked. First and foremost was that my old Buick had just died, and by buying the Century when and where I did, I didn't have to pay the $1500+ bill for the repairs.

And I wear lots of "Members Only" jackets with the sleeves rolled up.

But, during the day, I drive a '96 Honda Accord which behaves like Hal.

I drive around in a '91 Chevy Blazer. Unfortunately, like Big Red, I am limited to what I can drive by the leg room available - for some reason, most cars aren't designed to fit a 6'7" guy in the driver's seat. http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif

A white 94 Integra. Great car, only has 45K on it. No problems whatsoever. I love hondas/acuras. AustinPOTF, man I envy you. That CL type S is a bad mofo. I got my eye on the new Acura RS-X, the integra replacement. I saw one picture and I was drooling. Heard a type-R comes out next year.

am I the only poor b@stard on this site??! http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif Right now I'm driving a beat-up 1989 Chevy S-10 Blazer, I do love it though, its tough as hell.

My "real" car is a 1981 Camaro Z/28 that I am in the process of re-building. I bought it when I was 18 (wow, 10 years?!) so it's not a mid-life crisis http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif. I can't wait till it's finished! oh happy day http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif!

And occasionally, I get to drive my gf's 2000 Grand Am SE. that's a nice ride.

About the Probe, they just were a bad car. Very problematic, it wasn't fords fault. Mit-su-be-she(I can't figure out the spelling) built it. Thats why along with the counture is gone too.

04-06-2001, 06:04 PM
Mazda, not Mistubishi, was the company that built the Probe. I've had a Thunderdbird for 5 yrs, and I will never buy another Ford. I'm going to stick with Honda or Toyota for now on.

Like james said, the Probe was a Mazda product built on the same platform as the MX-6. As to the Contour, it's not really gone and was a poor competitor in it's class. It couldn't stand up against the Altima and Sentra for reliabilty nor value. The Contour has reverted back to (actually always was) the Mondeo, and will be re-introduced in a round-a-bout way when the Jaguar X-Type hits U.S. shores next spring. The X-Type is built on the Mondeo world platform.

Thanks, man! It's a great car and incredible bang for the buck. It has seen 145 a few times. http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif I kinda wish I hadn't leased it so I could do a ton of mods like headers, CAI, springs, sways, Brembos, the works. Comptech is even working on a supercharger for it. I didn't want to get tied down so I only leased it for 24 months since there are so many killer cars right around the corner.

I've heard that the 2002 RS-X Type R is supposed to come with 220HP and 18" wheels right out of the box. Should be a helluva car and a deserving successor to the current-gen ITR.

89 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 6 cyl. I drive this out of love more than anything else. It has almost no mods other than larger tires and I can finesse it through almost any offroad obstacle. The 'character' marks on the rocker panels bear testament to this being a real sport UTILIZED vehicle and not one of those mamby pamby yuppie grocery getters.

Why would you completely rule out a whole brand of cars because of one bad one? That's kind of like getting a bad burger at McDonalds and never eating at McDonalds again isn't it?

But then again, I know how people instinctivly need to take sides, so I'll shut up.

Man, I love Hondas and Acuras. I used to drive a '93 Civic Si for 5+ years. At times when I did primarily freeway driving, the car averaged in the high 30s to low 40s mpg, well above the expected mileage. In the 103,000 miles I had it, the car got: 1 air filter change, 1 tune-up, 11 oil-changes, 1 wiper blade replacement. I'd still have it if it wasn't sucker-punched (ie, rear-ended) by a '98 Ford pu truck at a stop.

Now I drive a '99 Acura Integra.
