I just found the swimming jar jar wave at Toys R Us in Mass, if we've got them that means everyone should be getting these.

04-24-2001, 10:00 AM
bosskmr..where in Mass did you find that Jar Jar?? I've been hitting TRU every day for the past 2 weeks and have seen nothing new! PLEASE tell me.

I gave up hoping to find Swimming Jar Jar in MA. The stores have plenty of extras from EP1, but no Jar Jar. I just see Jedi, Boss Nass, Captain Tarpals, Nute Gunray, OOM-9, Ody Mandrell, and Gasgano.

Hey Amarch I found them at the Natick area Toys R Us around noon time. They only had one case however I took the 1 jar jar, 1 Qui Gon and 2 damage destroyer droid, leaving 1 destroyer and 2 Qui Gon. There was also a few soft goods Maul, Obi, and Anakin. There was also 12" Han Endor and tons of discount stuff. Keep and eye out there are most likly more on the way. Check the larger volume Toys R Us's there your best bet.

Also what area of Mass are you guys from. We could help each other out in this time of dismay for star wars collectors.

Why buy from ebay if you can get them all at TRU for 1.99, people are stupid paying 5.99+ shipping for them along with tc-14, sio bibble, wuher, etc. I'm sure these will be club exclusives like reeyees, death star trooper, pote stniken, at-at driver, etc over a year ago, now nobody wants these because they were not in the hands of greedy dealers.

I see some guy is selling a jap eopie w/ qui-gon jinn, now if i take the stickers off would it become american?

I live in Australia and we stopped getting Episode I figs at the TC-14/R2-B1 wave.
Hasbro Australia thought that all of the figures after that would become peg warmers like some of the others so they didn't bother to import them.

So I had to visit scalper joe for the swimming Jar Jar figure and I knew I was getting ripped off but there was nothing I could do about it.
It wasn't coming into the country at all and I didnt want to miss out on this figure 'cause I really wanted it.
So scalper Joe and I both knew that swimming Jar Jar were packed one per case.
He offered it to me for $99.00 AUSD (thats around $50.00USD) and I bought it from him.
I felt like a fool but I had no other option.
Thats the most expensive figure I have bought that wasn't vintage.
The second most expensive non-vintage figure I bought was a Canadian FF Weequay for $75.00 AUSD :P

i Just picked one up from Yahoo Japan for £13 and nobody else even bid on it - it may sound pricey but in the Star Wars wasteland that is the UK I'm looking at it as a bargain and he completes my E1 figure collection

I have a Swimming Jar Jar and noticed that it has no holes in the bottom of his feet. Is this a typical Jar Jar or is this a variation? Thanks Chris

Every Swimming Jar-Jar has feet without the peg holes. I guess Hasbro did this so the holes wouldn't compromise the scene specific nature of the figure.

I have a feeling it has less to do with aesthetic and more to do with Hasbro not wanting to risk piercing the top of the foot pieces. http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif They are all like that, until you get your drill out and fix their mistake.

I finally got 1... Actually, 2. When it rains, it pours.

My wife is a "floater" pharmacist, and usually goes to 2-4 different stores each week. Well, the company that she works for is owned by Kroger's, and I have seen on several web sites that people have found Swimming JJB at Kroger's stores, so I have asked her to keep her eyes opened.

Last night she brought one home for me!!! I was so happy. Then, she got a "call back" around 11:00 so I rode along. On the way home, she mentioned there was another store sorta on the way home that didn't have a pharmacy, so she had never checked there. We stopped in, and right there in their cereal aisle, front and center, was a c9.5 Swimming Jar-Jar. Needless to say, its mine.

Now I actually have a semi-HTF figure available for trade. I'm off to the trading forums to see what I can get....

I guess this figure was showing up at TRU's. Not in my area, we have been getting this wave of figures at K-Mart.
But I would of never thought of checking Kroger.
Good find!

The thing that gets me is the part where he says he's everyone's favorite character..What a hoot!..LOL..Personally,I dont think I know anyone that likes his character.I can't stand him.I mean his figure is ok,but I think I could have done without his presence..

Hey, if your gonna pay $425 for a MOC EP1 one, why not get the proto, too http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

08-01-2001, 06:05 PM
haha, someone bid a dollar on it.Do they really think a protoype would sell for a dollar.I love when people do stuff like that,it cracks me up..But I think I'm confused as to what you meant Mr Wooglethorp..

I meant that why not pay the same amount for the proto as a regular old EP1 piece. Swimming Jar Jar is worth $425, in the sellers opinion http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif

08-02-2001, 06:34 PM
ahh...gotcha..Yeah I wouldn't mind having a prototype some day..That'd be cool

Was the Figure Made from the deleted Scene(Water Fall) or from the Beginning when he's Swimming with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon(Under Water City)....?

lmk Panzer!!!

10-27-2001, 06:40 PM
I'm pretty sure that it's when he is swimming with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan going to Gungan City.

Inigo_Montoya
10-27-2001, 09:26 PM
Probably from the Otoh Gunga scene, since the waterfall scene hadn't even been finished yet at the time of action figure release. I also don't see why he'd come with a fish if it was the waterfall scene. images/icons/smile.gif

In the waterfall scene when Jar Jar Binks jumps into the water you can see those types of fish in the water images/icons/smile.gif

But the figure is from the scene when Jar Jar does his stupid jump and lands in the water, then Obi and Qui follow...

Well, you are all correct. Still not going to get over Jar Jar having to use a line to get across the river..can't he swim..?

Matt_Fury
10-28-2001, 02:55 PM
I don't think Jar Jar used the line to get across the river in the deleted scene....do I need to watch that part of the DVD again???

10-28-2001, 05:02 PM
He fell off while he tried to get across..it was quite comical..

I'm not a Jar Jar fan, but as I'm looking to complete my E1 collection, I've just won a MOMC Swimming Jar Jar (with fish) for 5Ä ($5).

Considering he was quite hard to find, I guess this is a good price or not?

I saw him while working recieving for Wal-Mart. The box came off the truck and I opened it to see if there was anything new. I saw him and put him back in the box. Had to wait till I was off work and he was stocked.

Well, when I got to the Star Wars display, he was already gone. Never saw him again at retail. I know where I can get him for $20, but I hesitate to pay that much for something I will open.

I will find him one day. images/icons/smile.gif

I probably paid about £8 ($11) for mine about a year ago. E1 prices seem to go up and down in waves, you got that $5 one at a low point. Nice score for one of the best (if not the) best JarJar's produced!
