Hey there,

Has anyone seen those "first shot" jumbo figures which have popped up on ebay lately?

Are they real prototypes? Any thoughts?

GG released a "first shot" Boba Fett maybe two years ago. That is a legit GG piece.

That I know!

I'm talking about prototypes that have been listed on eBay. At least the seller is claiming those are FS prototypes. I've seen Fett (a first shot of the "first shot"), Yoda, Leia...

Hmmm I don't know. That would be a good question to ask GG directly.

The prototypes seem to be legitimate. Of course, the ending prices are somewhat surprising as well. I am "waiting" for a Jawa to appear.

I don't know about these. Wonder if GG will confirm their existence if I ask at Celebration?

My guess is that they're not "used" first shots but manufactured ones (by factory workers) in non-production colors for the after market. Not at all uncommon with modern Hasbro figures.

Agreed. Most likely they are just unpainted factory rejects stolen by workers at the Chinese factory and sold on Ebay like lots of other factory rejects. Definitely not "first shots" or "prototypes". Those words are tossed around way too often in this hobby by people who don't really know what those terms mean.

Factory stolen or extra's, see tons of them for all types of collectibles. A huge load of bootleg SSC Hulk Maquettes (completed) were found in Thailand a few months ago. Everything is open to be copied, stolen or replicated especially when the volume rolling through factories is so high.

Edit: One of the major companies offering these bootlegged/pirated items is called Crazy Toys.

There's someone out of Hong Kong who has a ton of "prototypes" on ebay. I also suspect it's a factory worker making money off scrap. People are paying a lot for some of these and don't even know what they're really getting.
