He's coming!

Yes, he'll be expensive and he needs to lift some weights by the looks of it.

keep in mind it is a work in progress.

no, he won't be 100% accurate.
yes, he will be expensive.

But boy, am I interested. I wonder how he will compare to the life size one from years ago...can't recall who made it.

slynger
07-04-2012, 12:59 PM
yeah, he is in progress - but I'm gonna hold out for the LSF. Also overpriced, but not as much (hopefully).

Don Post made the previous life size.

I am glad that I invested in the Don Post one when it was reasonably priced many years ago as I wont be tempted with this one. Will be interesting to see the final product though - and very curious to see the pricing.

It would've been cool for SSC to have Fett in a firing pose instead of copying the hip leaning pose of the Don Post one. I remember wanting that statue so bad...until I found out I could get a more accurate one for so much less AND actually be able to wear it. very curious to see where the end product though. You can never have too much Boba

Has a legendary scale figure of Boba Fett been announced?

It is great they let us know he's coming, but there is really nothing much to take away from that pic other than it is still a ways off. I cannot even form an opinion yet other than I need to see more as it becomes available.

No nothing official yet. The thinking is he will be eventually be made since the Maul is out for PO now and Obi Wan has been announced and shown last year at SDCC. I'm guessing and Hoping Vader and Fett would be next.

Vizsla
07-04-2012, 10:52 PM
That makes perfect sense, specially since Boba Fett is a very popular character. Would be really nice if they don't take to long to make one. It will be a must have to my collection! :-)

Wow, this is great news for Fett collectors. Sideshow must have a lot of faith in people's desire and ability to pay for such a piece. This isn't going to be cheap.

Sergiu

TDH and RPF professionals can make you a 1:1 Fett that will be more accurate and maybe less expensive, and you could even wear the armor if want to. I know this is licensed and some collectors will only go for licensed stuff, but I'd say open your eyes, before you open the wallet, especially when better products could await out there. ;)

Obviously this statue is intended for very few people BUT surely even a work in progress picture should be impressive shouldn't it??? What's with the scrawny arms??? They look totally out of context to the rest of the 1:1 scale statue OR maybe it's just the outfit they are showing us (before filling him out properly)??? Either way, I hope the finished example is more impressive..., especially when you know they'll be asking at least $6,000.00 for it when complete. :|

slynger
07-05-2012, 01:02 AM
It looks like he is on a practice mannequin and they will transfer the armor to a larger body once complete. They'll dirty him up a bit, give him a rifle (hopefully the right one), add to his gauntlets, power his chest lights (maybe?), add his helmet antenna, go record Jason Wingreen, tuck away his laser-pistol, fuel his jetpack and for 6K to 7K the thing better friggin talk to the Slave 1 that delivers him.

First thing that popped into my head was $6999. I get the feeling that they will throw in all of the bells and whistles they can on Fett since he's a fan favorite. why not have the base look similar to their ESB 1/6 scale figure that lights up? Cool, but when a collectible hits the used-car range it's too much for me...

Vizsla
07-05-2012, 06:16 AM
Used-car range thats a funny way of looking at the price tag, but you are right Boba is a fan favorite and SS will take that into consideration in the price. I will not be surpriced if the LS of Boba is the most expensive of the SSC 1:1 scale.

Jay_the_Lesser
07-05-2012, 08:04 AM
Oh hell Sideshow -you really know how to stick a knife in my wallet and twist! I'm thinking $7,000+ for this also. I'm also sure that SS will go all out. Would be cool if they used Wingreen recorded tracks, but it's not necessary.

As much as I will want this, I MUST hold out for Carbonite Han.

zapcity
07-05-2012, 09:45 AM
Boba Fett is supposed to be 6' tall and The Malgus statue is 7'4", assuming 4" is for the base, then Fett will be a good foot shorter than Malgus, so I would say he will be the same or less than the $6k they are asking for Malgus. Of course if SS adds in stuff like a light up base then the cost could go up fast. And of course Fett is far more iconic than Malgus too.

Vizsla
07-05-2012, 09:49 AM
SS has it listed as a working progress am sure they will manage to add whatever they feel is necessary to make the Boba 1:1 more expensive than Malgus. Just because he is more iconic.

deathstar1000
07-05-2012, 10:55 AM
I don't think he'll be more than Darth Malgus which is $6k.

You will be surprise how many people will buy this. C-3PO and R2 are both sold out from SSC.

Im in the same boat as you, my wife would divorce then have me killed...However, if Vader came out, I would consider selling half my collection.

What you have to do is....place it somewhere that it doesnt stand out. Let it be for a while, then casually bring it up to your spouse, in conversation. i.e. Yeah moved some stuff around downstairs. I put away some statues, and after all this time I might be able to, finally display my fett costume on mannequin, along with my Ultimate lego Ship, etc.

You got to ease you wife into it. Dont get frozen in carbonite!

Haha yeah I usually use this policy when it comes to Pf's and smaller items. Works pretty well but I don't think I can pull it off for a 1:1 statue. I mean she grinned at my Fett and Vader 1:1 bust when I first got those. I would need lots of alcohol handy every time we hang in my collection to take her attention away from the big mannequin wearing the Fett costume.

Does anyone know if it is clothed, or is it just hard pieces like the Boba bust? (Excluding the cape)

It's $5000 just for the costume, but doesn't include the mannequin to display it on?

Plus, odd choice to go with the "Special" Edition version with the ESB helmet on the RotJ body.

Best of luck with the sale, but, personally, ESB is the only real Fett.

It seems it is sold already. As for including the mannequin, shipping for one would be too much to worth the hassle, most people could get one locally anyway.
