Hi guys!

Tonight's ForceCast will be filled with "year-in-review" goodness. I thought we might post our own thoughts about our favorite parts of 2010 here.

For me, 2009 was going to be hard to beat. But though a brief period of concern over the possibility of attending Celebration V in Orlando had me a bit blue, 2010 was really the best year yet!

Nothing can top the C5 experience for me:
In the months preceding the actual event, several of us were planning (and plotting) some possible activities for this "reunion". The anticipation of Celebration was fantastic (in classic Star Wars tradition). Bits and pieces were let out a little at a time, giving us glimpses into what we could expect. But having never been to a Celebration, I was a tad nervous about being overwhelmed by the size of it all. Once I had the tickets for me and the kids and our room reserved, all I had to worry about was what to do and what could be skipped...

...and then the party planning ensued. JediShua, Jorbex, Eric, Sheldon, and Satka all worked to get this thing together and make it a success (even though we thought, for a time, that we'd have to mortgage Shua's house to make it happen). We all went through our collections to find items to share with party-goers as well as planned events, entertainment, food and location. The night before the event, we flooded (sorry Shua) Shua's family's room at the hotel to assemble the "goody-bags" 'til late at night, only to reconvene in a couple of hours in the warehouse-like waiting room.

The party went well. We'll be having another in a few months (Fan Days anyone?), on a smaller scale, I'm sure. I even got to sing with Glen some!

Celebration itself was mind-blowing!
No matter how you chose to celebrate Star Wars, flying solo, with a significant other, or loaded with the whole family, there was no shortage of things to do. In fact, I missed more than I saw, but I got to experience the whole thing with my family and the best friends in the world (and from all over it). I met "old friends" for the first time and was reunited with some buds I met the year before. I even met a fellow Star Wars fan from here in Dothan (think Dough-than, not Bothan) for the first time.

Friends and family are really at the heart of Star Wars for me. Star Wars at its best is about characters and relationships, so it seems only fitting that strong friendships arise from a common fandom. I felt right at home Saturday evening at Disney's Hollywood Studios with a few of my friends meeting up at the Mickey Ears and going on our way to the Tower of Terror and the Rockin' Rollercoaster. We sang Moosebutter's tribute to John Williams heartily as we made our way to Indiana Jones and the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom. After that first showing, we ran into some old friends (Jason and Jimmy, Moz and Chewie, and more) as we made our way towards one last tour to Endor. It was a great night that topped off a week I'll never forget.

2010 rocked all around, but I have to say that C5 was the crown jewel of the year!

That's the highlight of an otherwise turbulent year for me. When I opened that care package you guys sent from C5, it was hard to keep back the emotions. It was that moving.

Yes, indeed, that re-affimation of family was the highlight of my fandom this year. You all still rock. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

2010 can really only be summed up in 2 words for me.. Celebration V!

And from that, comes the next best thing (possibly even better than the convention itself) the ForceCast Party! All the hard work that went into it is greatly appreciated.

I do have to say I feel a little bad for possibly stealing some of Shua's thunder with the helmet. It wasn't intentional I swear! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif Almost all of my favorite memories from CV come from that party. Meeting all the great people I've talked to online and then seeing all the celebs showing up and just the relaxed fun, intimate atmosphere of the party just made it an incredible, once in a lifetime (or at least once every 3 years) experience.

The 501st party was complete insanity (which they usually are http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) however, nothing can compare to the FC Party. Those few hours made my year!

Thanks everyone for all your hardwork!

Basically, CV CV CV. Everything about it was amazing. Even almost dying in the trunk of Mandy's car. Best five days of my life.

Even though I did not make it to CV I was parked near a computer watching the twitter feeds and reading the news as it came out of Orlando. Then there was that great day that a piece of CV came to me. Thanks guys, once again!

I'm gonna chime in here and give my nickel.

I agree with you guys 100%! Not only was CV the best part of the year for me, it was just about the only thing I'll be talking positively about for 2010. I'm not going to talk about anything negative though, because CV outshined anything else that happened and made it a year I'll always remember fondly.

A great experience overall, but my friends made it THE BEST! And, oh, that party! What a time!

This goes down as one of the all time greatest experiences of my life! I can't tell you how strong the smile on my face was that night. That's when it all came together and exploded into success for me. (And Shaz, "flooded", bwahahahah! Best pun of the year! Sorry Eric)

No thunder was stolen my friend. One of my (many) good memories of that night was you walking around getting those signatures with a huge ol' smile on your face. Loved it!!

I feel like I've said it so many times since August, but thank you to all my friends! CV was truly a once in a lifetime, positive, fantastic, magical experience! (But that doesn't mean I won't try to duplicate it whenever I can) http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

For some reason I just picture you taking your family to a rented hotel ballroom where food and activities have been set out and "Oh Ani" is playing in the background...

Are you kidding me? Where do you think I've been living for the last 2 months? In a hotel called the Rose Inn Center. Some guy name Jake Fenkanstein would serve us breakfast every day.
(But then we'd run out before the day was half over) http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
