The first CHG meeting was June 24, 2007 at the McDonald's across from Brookfield Square Mall. There were 6 people at the original meeting. It was a magical day indeed. So the CHG will be 3 years old this year. WOW time goes by so fast. There has been a good fun past with the group with a great future ahead of it. Thanks to all for making this thing possible. Yall are awesome!!! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The July CHG meeting will be.....

When: July 11th (SUNDAY)
Time: 10:30 a.m. until ???
Where: Old Country Buffet, in Brown Deer on 6538 W Brown Deer Road

Please note that is will be a SUNDAY meeting. Due to the Star Wars concert being at the Bradley Center on Saturday July 10. This will be a great time to recap the concert for those that can attend both the concert and the CHG meeting.

Our last meeting in Madison was awesome with a big turn out. So hope to see a big crowd again in July.

Looking forward to it and as always may the Force be with you.

Wow! I can't believe if has been almost three years already. I was at the first meeting but did not expect a fan club to be formed. We just went there to meet jack and wasn't Sara there also? I cant remember who was all there.

I won't be able to make this one. However, I do hope to see some of my fellow CHG members at SW in Concert - 1:30pm show. There will be 25 of us from the 501st-Wisconsin Garrison and the Rebel Legion. Be sure to come and say HI.

Have a great time on Sunday!

I think I should be able to make this one if all goes well. If I do, I plan on bringing a pretty cool vintage item to pass around for fun.

I will definitely be there...
I won't be able to be there right at 10:30 - probably get there between 11 and noon.
Anyways, I will have lots if stuff for our ever famous raffle and I will have a bunch of freebies too.
(I no longer have a "hobby" room as the wife and I have turned it into a nursery for a baby due in October).
Hence, to make "room" I will be shedding a number of items from the collection...(books, cards, figures, magazines,etc..)
I'd prefer they go to a good home...

Looking forward to seeing you all again... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I should be there also. I will have DVDs for everybody. I have to rebuild it now because I was able to get an Anthony Daniels interview on channel 6 this morning. They also were messing around with a 12" vintage C-3P0 and C-3P0's cereal box on the news desk.

Glad you and Notmertz were able to come... Sorry I didn't even see you guys leave! I was engulfed in the hundreds of items Red_Guard_Fan gave away. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Great meeting, as always, and good to see everyone. I suspect Tom and I will have interesting giveaways for the next meeting (from SDCC and CV)...

Feel bad that I missed the meeting... oh well maybe if it's at Greenfield OCB again, I can make it. I'm doing those Epson demos every saturday and sunday from noon-ish to 4-ish... and then it's off to Wallyworld.

Funfunfun!

By the way... is anyone interested in doing a CHG picnic somewhere? Maybe even at just someone's house or a park? Could do something at Dineen Park - place is pretty quiet even in the dead of summer. Could have a kickawesome raffle too! LOL

These raffles are awesome aren't they. You just never know what you are gonna go home with. I know everyone loves the mystery boxes and envelopes. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The CHG meeting September location is...

When: September 11th (Saturday)
Time: 10:30 a.m. until ???
Where: Old Country Buffet In Brookfield on 16750B West Bluemound Rd

Note that is is back to our normal day of Saturday.

As always hope to see everyone there who can make it. I might or might not be there because our baby's due date is September 22. The 11th is a close date to it. So when I'm there I could be on call and might have to leave. So it will be sort of nervous/exciting time at the next meeting for sure. But as always the meeting will go on as scheduled. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm looking at getting some more CHG T-shirts made probably next week. If anyone is interested in one you can paypal me $20(at cost), and give me the size you need. I can give it to you at the next CHG meeting or possibly meet up to drop it off. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Tom_Wesell

I could use an extra shirt. When I go to conventions, I can wear the shirt two days instead of 1 day. Too bad I won't have the extra in time for San Diego. The people last year really loved the shirt.

JTKenobi sorry but they don't like to use shirts brought in due to they can not guarantee the work or quality of the shirt. This is something I can understand. Sorry this is not an option. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Barenakedleia_s I am looking to try and order a batch of shirts either next Thursday 7-22 or Friday 7-23. If you are interested PM me for papal info. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It just kills me that I could not make it this time. I went to C2, C3, and C4 but C5 just was not in the cards this time with baby due next month. But hopefully will be at C6 if there is one.

My pleasure! It was actually easier than I expected. I didn't even bring the package with me on Thursday. I knew we were going to the SW Fan Film Awards that night, and figured there was a 90% chance Steve would be there. Luckily, I was right! So I only had to carry the box with me once (other than in my carry-on luggage to Orlando--I wasn't gonna take any chances putting it in my checked luggage). Thanks for the great photo, JT, and for being the only one of us wearing the CHG shirt that night! It helped to point it out to Mr. Sansweet, so he could remember meeting us in the past. The only thing that could have made it better is if Steve had opened the package on the spot and put on the shirt! Well, hopefully Steve S. won't sell the figure to Guz Lopez or Duncan. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Downtown campus. $114 for a semester. Deal! Last spring I did the first lab and by the end of the class, I was the only student of the 8 that started so it was like a private lesson. Some of those kids just can't remember the schedule or wake up on Saturdays. Do you play any instruments? We could start a CHG band! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Glad you guys had fun. Sorry I couldn't make it. If it was this Saturday, I could have gone... I'll make sure I attend the next one. I don't remember if you posted a date yet, but I assume it isn't until January? The only thing I hate about January meetings are the possibility of going against the playoffs. The Packers should be there again, but I don't think your Bengals will be (sorry, Jack!)

Hi all sorry for such a long time and delay in announcing the next CHG meeting. What with having all the new Daddy Duties these days there aint much time to go around.

However I did think it was time to take a longer break before the next CHG meeting after how the last one was. We will be back to the every other month routine. Just thought we needed a longer break before we kicked off the CHG 2011 season. So without further delay....

When: February 12th (Saturday)
Time: 10:30 a.m. until ???
Where: Old Country Buffet by South Ridge Mall. In Greenfield on 4902 South 74Th Street

As always looking forward to it and may the Force be with you. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Also, I am trying to complete a couple more BAD droids so if you have any parts to trade, please bring! I still need:

Another fun meeting. Thank you to all!

Twas a great meeting, indeed! Glad Notmertz, Facehammer, and Jimmy were able to make the drive down, as well as the locals (including the return of JT Kenobi!) The raffle was a bit looong. I don't ever want to complain about there being too much stuff, but perhaps we should combine more of the "little stuff" in the future.

For those that were there, I did go through my "surprise box" from S.Marlinfan, and found a few surprise goodies in there, such as an Avatar figure, and another dragon with the light-up tongue! LOL! I was so jealous of Notmertz's dragon, so am glad I got one for myself! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Jack, I don't know where you got all that stuff, or why, but it was definitely a fun part of the meeting. My friend's son will be entertained for years with all the toys I'm about to give him... Twitter is high maintenance, since you really need to send tweets every day in order to be successful. Facebook can just sit there and do nothing, while we can post stuff on the wall. Twitter only works for things that have a lot of activity. Let's face it, the CHG doesn't really...

I plan on being at the meeting on Saturday. Does everybody have a copy of Star Wars Begins? It is the fan documentary for A New Hope. It is similar to Empire Building and Returning to Jedi. These are all made by the same guy. You might have heard about this if you listened to the Forcecast about three weeks ago. If you are going to be at the meeting, I can bring you a copy. Just let me know if you would like one. No charge of course.

Hi, all I asked before about Wizard World next month. The next scheduled CHG meeting is on Saturday August 13th, which is also the same weekend as Wizard World down in Chicago. So I thought it would be nice to do something different. For folks in the CHG that could make it to Wizard World we would have the meeting at a near restaurant after the show at around 5:00pm to 6:00ish pm. Depending on time show ends, etc. I do remember that several years back some of us went and afterwards we meet up at pizza place that was close to the Donald E Stephens Convention Center. It would be nice to have a CHG road trip to the show and have the official meet up after at either that pizza joint that I can't remember the name or somewhere else close.

Thoughts, or comments and for those who went a few years ago do yall remember the pizza joint or was it something else? Thanks and looking forward to doing something different with the meeting. It could be a blast a CHG meetup with the convention experience. :-)

They close at 7pm on Saturday. Personally, I would rather not leave before they close. Good stuff typically happens at the end of the day... Bargain shopping, contests, and more.
Too bad the $15 Groupon deal doesn't include Saturday. Oh well. $25 is the regular advance ticket price. Saturday does have better programming though:

2:00-2:45PM
PATRICK AND DANIEL STEWART Q&A
All hail Sir Patrick Stewart! We all know and love him for his roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek” and as Professor Xavier in the X-Men movies, among dozens of other film, television and stage credits. Don’t miss the international superstar when he teams up with his son Daniel (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”) for a special double Q&A at Wizard World Comic Con. (Room A)

3:00-3:45PM
LEVAR BURTON Q&A
Whether the adults know him by face as Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” or the kids know him as the voice of Kwame in the kid’s cartoon favorite “Captain Planet,” or as the face of “Reading Rainbow,” LeVar Burton has delighted fans on-screen for generations, and will share his experiences in this Q&A. (Room B)

Of course, Friday would have suit us better:
3:00-3:45PM
STAR WARS PANEL WITH PETER MAYHEW, ORLI SHOSAN AND BONNIE PIESSE
The stars behind Chewbacca, Jedi Master Shaak Ti and Beru Whitesun take fan questions and discuss their thoughts on the evolution of one of the highest grossing film franchises in history. (Room B)

And for me and Tom:
4:00-4:45PM
TORCHWOOD Q&A WITH KAI OWEN AND GARETH DAVID-LLOYD
Kai Owen and Gareth David-Lloyd became international superstars with their roles as Rhys Williams and Ianto Jones in the British sci-fi hit “Torchwood,” and they traveled overseas to make a special US appearance at the Chicago Comic Con! (Room A)

Since it's after a convention and out of our normal stomping grounds, gonna try and play it by ear a little bit here. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know exactly where that is. But I have to admit, I'm not a fan of leaving conventions early (unless of course the show sucks). It runs til 7pm, so personally I'd prefer not to meet earlier than 6:30. I'm the type of guy they usually have to kick out of the exhibit hall, trying to get last minute bargains. It's also because I plan on attending many panels during the day, so late in the day is my time to shop. Who all is planning on going, anyway?

I appreciate it! I know it won't be as long as our usual meetings (and that Denny's is small, so they may kick us out quickly). I'm shocked at Wizard World charging a $5 convenience fee for buying online! So now advance tickets are really $30. Too bad Groupon didn't include Saturday, since $15 sounds much better to me...

Yeah...too bad we missed the Groupon deal. When I went to the Wizard World ticket ordering page, I noticed there was a box for typing in a "discount code." I combed every coupon code website online to see if someone possibly posted a code... and nada!

Well I'm definitely coming to this one finally - working weekends -every single weekend really bites sometimes - but at least this OCB is right down the street from the Greenfield Best Buy and I'll probably be able to stay at least until about 11:45ish lol gotta get to the store by Noon. Although I'll probably be heading there earlier than 10:30 so ma and I grab a bite to eat.

And yes, this time I'll be coming with a few raffle and possibly sale items - if there's anything in particular that anyone's looking for (nothing too current as I haven't bought much new Star Wars stuff in nearly a year LOL) let me know before the meeting and I can see if I happen to have it - or if people are looking for some fodder figs - let's make a deal!

Thanks to the guys for stopping into the store last Saturday to remind me about the meeting!

Good conversation about anything Star Wars and anything else. You can bring unique items to show or maybe you have something to trade for something else.
We really don't have any rules that I can't think of. The only rule is to show up and have fun. I might have to bring my trivia book again because I haven't done that in a while.

The other part of the day is the drawings. Everyone brings some extra Star Wars stuff, and we take turns picking something to bring home. Early in the day, you'll see a pile of Star Wars stuff sitting on a table.

Yesterday was a fantastic meeting! Nice to meet sadowsk1 and Mr's facehammer (Ivy) as well as the rest of Darth Ray's family. Plus, an appearance by the legendary Geo (George Zagel). As always, great food, great fun, and great raffle prizes. Even Fred threw in a couple welcomed surprises this time! Shame about the manager. Did you catch his name? Was he new? I'm pretty sure if you add up all the time and money we've all poured into OCB over the years, they have little to complain about. Sorry I missed out on this one. I admit, I am usually in a mood to talk to people like this.

We had similar problems with our local OCB. They cancelled our reservation for the back room... for 40 people. They decided that a party of 16 people was better off in the room (even though tradition dictated that we use it, at this time, for the last several years). Needless to say, that manager ran the place into the ground, and it went out of business less than a year later... I shouldn't take pleasure in such a thing, but I do.

I am a fellow Wisconsinite, only on the opposite side of the state... Based out of Hudson, Wi...

Learned of the Garrison via S.Marlinfan & a few others, which lead to liking the Facebook page, which eventually brought me here (in the roundabout sense).
I'm not a *huge* Star Wars collector, as I only have a couple of misc. figures; but my 'pride & joy' is a vintage plush Wicket.
A fan of the original Trilogy, annoyed that the recent Blu-ray release didn't feature the movies in their original theatrical run, think Jar-Jar is an abomination, however; I have watched the Christmas Special a few times (on purpose even!)...

I've been meaning to post this for a while... For those attending the CHG meeting (or potentially some Madisonites that can't make the meeting), I am proposing an After-Meeting Field-Trip! I won a brewery tour for 8 people to Capital Brewery. Each person gets a 6-pack of Capital Beer. I booked a tour for 3:00pm. I'm sure tours only take 30-45 minutes, but I plan on calling to confirm that. Tom_Wesell, Bosski, and myself are already 3 of the 8, so I have 5 openings. PM me if you are interested. Depending on timing, you could stop at the "Mattel Factory Outlet" on the way to the Capital Brewery too. Its not much out of your way and should still be open. If you are interested I can get you directions to the correct store entrance and verify the Saturday hours.

When: February 11th (Saturday)
:)

Is it considered irony that I can't make this because it's OPENING WEEKEND for Episode 1 in 3D and I anticipate being in line waiting to watch Star Wars in the theater with my kids for the first time!

We could go to a later show, but I was thinking we should go to the earliest matinee show of the day.

We're trying to get a group together to see it on Friday night. That way we can make the CHG meeting. I'm not missing this one!!

Yeah, maybe I should take the fam to a later show. I'll have to see the showtimes and make the call then. I will be seeing SW Friday night too (with you guys hopefully) and it would be too bad to miss another CHG meeting.

Looks like it's going to be an expensive weekend...ouch!

That would be cool to see it with a bunch of guys that want to check it out. My wife has tapped out long ago and this is despite the fact that she has wanted to see a 3d movie. If Star Wars wasn't a big enough draw what is? I'm definitely in for the meeting this time, opening weekend is a hard sell, since opening weekend for a movie can be madness.

Well where do you plan to see it? I was definately thinking of heading to see it on that Friday as well. Personally I like MayFair AMC but I'm game for any other honestly. I know I won't be able to make the CHG meeting - dang Sunday sales jobs grr... but I can sure do a Friday night!

Well where do you plan to see it?

We are planning on seeing it Friday night at AMC. We secured tickets already. The show is at 7pm-ish.

As for the next CHG meeting, I will be bringing some extra TVC figures that I have laying around. If anyone has extra figs to swap, bring them! Otherwise, I will sell for $6 per fig - I got most of them on sale at TRU.

Personally I need a Ponda Baba on a mint card as well as as the new Ahsoka & Armored Savage Oppress. If someone has extras, please bring :)

I've been searching for Armored Savage for ages. With the new cards out now, I think we are SOL. But I'll keep my eyes out. I think Ponda Baba may have better luck...

Thanks for the heads up NickRyder. This is certainly disappointing. :-( Looked it up and they closed on Thursday. here is the link: Racine, Brookfield Old Country Buffets close in bankruptcy - Milwaukee - The Business Journal (http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2012/01/20/racine-brookfield-old-country-buffets.html) This unfortunately takes one of our locations out of rotation. :-(

Thanks for letting us know. So everyone would not show up there for nothing. So many thanks NickRyder.

OK, So change of schedule. New location but same date.

When: February 11th (Saturday)
Time: 10:30 a.m. until ???
Where: Old Country Buffet by South Ridge Mall. In Greenfield on 4902 South 74Th Street

I’ll be in contact with the Greenfield OCB so there will not be any worries for the group.

Sure do hate to hear that the Brookfield location is gone. I would also like to open this up to any possible suggestion to other locations that would be able to accommodate our needs.

Thanks and once again make note of the location change to Greenfield for the next meeting.

Wow, I'm very surprised, since they always seem busy when we go. Perhaps they are only busy on weekends. Or maybe their costs exceed their revenue (meaning they will raise prices again). I just hope they never close the Madison one, or Southridge. Northridge would be no loss. :P

[no re-stocking, cold food, improper food rotation] We complained to the manager, and he didn't seem to care. Very different from every other OCB we've ever visited.

Nice work there Nick! That would have been a pretty awkward meeting. I think I'm still planning on hitting the meeting! (so if anyone from Madison is looking to go... I'm driving)

Hi, all I’ll be bringing some boxes with stuff for possible trade, if anyone might be interested in any of it. Also I encourage folks to bring tradeable stuff to the meetings if they have anything. It’s always better to me if you can trade with your CHG buddies than go the Ebay route. :-)

I am going to try my best to make it. I will bring a ton of stuff to trade (and freebies for the raffle).

BAD Droid parts, loose/carded modern figs, loose vintage.

Looking for loose modern for custom figs/parts (maybe BAD parts to complete a couple droids)

Had a great time too! It's great to see people I've met at my first meeting and talk to some new people. Looking forward to the next meeting and making it earlier so I can stay longer. Next time I'll have to remember to stop at tru afterwards and not before, but what if what I want isn't there later...lol.

Great time! Nice to see everyone!

Stopped by 27th St. TRU: the manager says she will be handing out the $10 off cards Sunday morning at opening. Too far for me!

Good fun yesterday. Great seeing everyone.

After seeing Ep1 yesterday I did a 'dumpster dive' into the glasses recycle bin of the theater and scored at least 10 pair of the Maul 3D glasses. I will bring them to a future meeting just in case some of you guys weren't able to get this cool giveaway.

^ That's awesome LOL I was considering doing the same myself, but there were way too many people around.

It was a pretty good turn out at the meeting yesterday and an awesome raffle - too bad I wasn't able to stay for more of it. But such is life.

Thanks to all for making it to the CHG meeting yesterday. It was a blast as always. :-) Great and long raffle. 6 rounds and I was the unlucky sap that got stuck with winner take all, ha ha. :-) Awesome trades as well with JTKenobi and Jimmy 2 Pack. :-) It was definitaly the frozen tundra trading out in the parking lot.

Looking to mix things up a bit for meetings in the future. So stay tuned for future details. :-)

Once again thanks to all for making out group and incredible fun buch to get togeather with. :-)
