View Full Version : Jabba the Hutt Life Sized Bust sold by Propstore?

I recently discovered that at one time the Propstore of London sold a life-sized fiberglass bust (actually more of a wall hanging) of Jabba the Hutt cast from an original Jabba face owned by John Coppinger, and apparently painted by him as well.

This is the skin.

And here is a picture of John Coppinger and Toby Philpott standing in front of the finished bust.

It's no longer available, and the last time I know that it was on their site was 2007. The only info I have been able to get about this has come from a mention on the Jabba the Hutt page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jabba-the-Hutt/455774045213) and from a web archive of the Propstore web site (shown as an image below).

Have other people heard of this, or know anyone who got one of these? I'd really like to know more about it. At $3,729, plus God knows how much shipping, this was certainly not cheap, but it's sort of the ultimate Jabba collectible.

WOW icruise, that's certainly an unusual item. If you'd have seen it sooner, would you have bought it for your collection?

Well, I'd love to have one, but I don't think I am going to be spending that much on any one item from now on. Maybe if someone had one they wanted to sell for a lot less than the original price. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cool but a little too much IMO.

I agree. I think they were charging about double what it's really worth. That's probably due to it being painted by Coppinger, which is admittedly a pretty big deal.

Seeing as I'll probably never be able to get one of these, I'm hoping that Sideshow will do a Legendary Scale Bust of Jabba. They seem to have a love affair with Jabba and his buddies, and they've done similar things with the Cave Troll and Balrong LSBs for Lord of the Rings. They could totally do a Jabba.

While I can appreciate the history of it, I personally would never spend good money on an item like this.

As cool as it is, I remember Stuart Freeborn talking about how the skin of the face stretched over a surface in a little tighter fit than expected -- I guess that explains the difference in the look (especially the space between the eyes -- I think I prefer the result of the "stretched out" face...but it is cool nonetheless

Perhaps the guy that bought it is also a Jabba fan. I'd say that hes visited your site icruise. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif
