Well I often wonder where some people come up with their usernames, so without further ado - why do you have the username you do?

Personally mine is Jibba, because as a kid I was always chatting away - what some would call Jibba Jabba. So my family call me, Jibba, or Jibby. So mine is kind of a family nickname. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

So what about yours? Any reason why you picked the username you did?

I still can't figure out what mine means.

Mine's pretty simple, really. My real-world last name is Jorba, and I started using Jorbex as a character name for video games when I was a teenager. I guess I thought "Jorba" wasn't exotic enough. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Murray is a nickname I earned in High School. A friend of mine started calling people "Murrays" as High School kids tend to make up there own slang words. He was then asked "What's a Murray?" His response was "Paul! Paul's a Murray." I became the definition of a Murray.

I stuck with it and adopted it as an online handle.

Nice question!

I've always liked Jawas, and avid SWCCG player as I was, I distorted a "real" Jawa name: Datcha (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Datcha)

It became Satka, and I've used it in almost every game where I have the chance to name a character http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's also an anagram of your last name, right?

Ah, Paladins. I loved their protective auras, and his holy shield skill was just plain cool. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mine I took from a Star Wars line. Obviously. And I love me some Chewie, so it fits.

Mine's my game name from when I used to play Jedi Academy on-line and on the Jedi Academy forums, I think I used it with some other on-line games but mainly JK3.

Personally, the shirtless palpatine joke cracked me up to no end, so when I joined the forums, I decided to go with it.

cool thread. When I first got on to the forums, I had just moved to the panhandle of Texas and if you've ever been up to that part of the country... The panhandle can feel like Tatooine especially if you're not used to that environment or culture.

No, otherwise it would be Geldarn. But I never noticed it before.

Settle in, folks. Jawas are pretty long-winded when discussing their heritage....

So back in '93 or so Mr. Jawa was finishing up his last semester of college and met the future Mrs. Jawa at said college. Something about her really piqued his interest. It was her roommate. And how that roommate would be a great match for his best friend from high school. Double-dating ensued. (But strictly to get roommate and buddy together, Mr. Jawa had no particular interest in the not-as-yet Mrs. Jawa, and vice-versa.)

As anyone can attest, getting four people to agree on what to do weekend after weekend is very difficult. One Halloween night, Mark was dressed as a Jawa, but he is the tallest among the four so his costume was officially titled "The Tallest Jawa in the World". Hence a leader was chosen, "Mark, you're the Tallest Jawa, you decide what we should do."

You all know Carrie Fisher was in "When Harry Met Sally". So you all know how our terrific plan to get Kay's roommate hooked up with Mark's best-bud worked out. That's why we're Mr. and Mrs. TallestJawa.

(As for Roommate and Best Bud, that never did amount to much.)

Interesting story behind the name we've known for so long. Thanks for sharing!

DarthPigeon

I used to live in Chicago and one day I was just fed up with the pigeons not moving out of our way when walking down the street. I finally decided the next time one was in my way, I'd kick it. The pigeon moved out of my way (or flew) and my family started calling me pigeon kicker as a joke.

RZion
10-04-2009, 12:21 PM
Back in the day, I used to really love an anime called 'the Big O' (For the adults in the audience, it's not what you think), which featured androids whose names all began with 'R'. So thus, I combined that with Zion as a reference to my Christian faith (and the Jewish origins therein) to become the ever enigmatic 'R. Zion.'

Tada!

Well, General Grievous is my favorite character in Star Wars, and when I first came up with grievousfan91 I just knew that it was the right name for me.

Well, I've got a wee bit o' scottish in me and originally I would use the name 'SpankyMcJedi' but I'm older and more sophisticated now so I go with JediMcAndrew. How many Jedi have you seen in a kilt? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Obi-Wan is my favorite character from the prequels. When I decided to enter the world of costuming, Obi-Wan's Episode III outfit is the one I started with. I wanted to be Obi-Wan, hence ObiWannabe.

DRaider
11-13-2009, 05:50 PM
The D stands for "Duby" (I shorten it to stop censors from freakin out). A nickname I picked up in high school for my last name of Dubendorf (the guy that gave it to me thought it was funny as he was munching on his 2nd bag of chips in an hour).
Raider as you you can guess is for the Friendly and loveable Tusken's from the wastelands. And I have always felt like I was out wandering lost in the wastelands before I found all of you. Really am glad I have found an outlet.

Thanks to everyone

Womp

Mine is from my user handle I've used throughout the interwebs since I started exploring them: womprat99.

At some point, I actually wrote fanfic (gasp!) starring a Jedi Knight in the Old Republic era named Womp Queren (last name is pronounced KER-en). Queren is derived from Querencia, which refers to a metaphysical concept of a place where one feels safe or from which one's strength of character is drawn. A place where one feels at home, if you will. It comes from the Spanish verb querer, which means to desire, to want. In bullfighting, when the bullfighter prepares for the kill that will end it, a bull may stake out turf -- querencia -- a place in the ring where he feels strong and safe. Querencia has long been the name of the capital planet in the science fiction universe in which I currently write.

Anyway, to make it easy, I took the first name as my username, though I sign my posts with my real name, which I use when I write and podcast.

Mine is two fold -
1. My favorite Star Wars character is Anakin Skywalker. He started out as a Jedi who used a blue blade, then he became a Sith who used a blue blade to seal his fate as Darth Vader.
2. My middle name is Blue. I would just use plain Darth Blue, but I think it was taken when I was trying to claim a username, so I had to go with the Blu3 misspelling.

I got my handle when I was signing up to play Battlefront: renegade squadron. I wanted hookem but it was taken and the system suggested hookembad. I've used it ever since.

Mine is self explanatory (hint: check the avatar!). The funny thing is, Anakin is actually pretty low on my list of favorite characters. I think I just went with a cool recognizable name that hadn't been taken yet. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

lost_mario_bro

Well mine is a sad, sad story. *Sad Music*

You see the truth is I'm the unknown third Mario brother, Bob. We were all supposed to be in the game together but the directors did not like the fact that I kept running in the opposite direction. Like I told them, "Why should I run through eight different worlds when the Princess is in the castle right behind me?" Production ground to a halt for days. Mario and Luigi said they would talk to the producers for me. The next thing I know I'm fired! While they went on to stardom I had to go back to a lackluster plumbing job. And let me tell you it is a struggle. I mean I lose half my clients because I can never find their homes! When I do they all want to know if I can get them the autographs of my more famous brothers! *sigh* Now I spend my nights eating cold Chef Boyardee out of the can, while Mario gets the shoe deals and Luigi is dating super models. Its not fair. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The true story is that a few years back I was registering with a video game site for a contest and I needed a user name. And I thought it would be hilarious that if I was the "lost" little known third Mario brother and I just kept using it. That's as deep as it gets. Oh and my real name is not Bob.

cprav
12-05-2009, 07:40 AM
On here I go by Cprav. I love languages, even though I suck at them (so much I spelt Cprav wrong, should be with an 's' lol). I took my real name (which some of you know) and sorta translated it into Russian. The word was like thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big :P Cprav (or Sprav) was the first syllable. :P

On Twitter I'm Aurora. That's a nickname I picked up in another fandom and love it (and it fits so much more than they knew when they gave it to me, considering where I live)! It's much prettier than cprav so I keep Cprav for fan sites and such and I've sorta adopted Aurora for my personal stuff http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ahh..interesting stories everyone. I still want to know where Eric's prior name, 'Masterrawas' I believe, originated.

As for me... A Long Time Ago, in Galaxy...nevermind. Actually, during my early college party days I wore a Chewbacca shirt to one such party. The next thing I know everyone is calling me Chewie! It stuck. To this day I have friends who don't know my real name.

When I decided to start my online identity I knew I wouldn't be the only Chewie so I added a few important years of my life together and came up with 7934. Then I saw Jedi--- being used like Jedishua and JediJustin and liked the way it sounded. So I used that too.

Actually, my favorite character is R2-D2 but JediR2-D27934 doesn't make much sense.

Hope I didn't bore anyone with that longo tale-o.

Long story short, "Erier Rawas" was my Star Wars name as established by an old issue of LEGO Magazine. All my screen-names and emails are "erier2003" (2003 was the year I started my first email account) and I made my forum username "Master Rawas."
