I couldn't find a thread on it already, so let's discuss! Which is your favorite Sideshow 1:4 Premium Format figure? I have to go with Luke and Yoda. It was my first premium format figure and got me into this in the first place. Just a great nostalgic piece. Grievous is a close 2nd. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As of now it is a toss up between the speederbike and Grievous - that may change when the Yoda/clone comes out though.

I only have 4. I'd rank them as follows:

1. Anakin ROTS Ex
2. Luke/Yoda ESB Ex
3. Tusken Raider ANH Ex
4. Slave Leia ROTJ Ex

Grievous is my favourite. But out of all the PF's Sideshow makes I would have to go with Dr.Doom.

My favourite at the moment is Asajj. I do like that character as she is visually appealing and looks like she has a story to tell. I have preordered the Yoda and Clone Trooper PF and that will be my favourite when it arrives.

Of the ones that I have, it would be the Scout Trooper with Speeder Bike.

I have been considering a Scout Trooper with Bike and wanted to get some feedback. I don't have any PF in my collection yet, just MR and GG. I have purchased a couple of 12 inch figures in the past, but do not display them as they seem a little funny looking. I would really like to get this one, but looking for a deal, and feedback.

Of the 4 I have I would rank them as follows:

1 - Darth Maul
2 - Anakin with Sith Eyes exclusive head
3 - Darth Vader
4 - Asajj Ventress

I really the look of Grievous and the Biker Scout with Speeder Bike but I don't have the funds or space for them.

I would have to say that the speederbike/scout is my favorite. And, of the 'charactor only' PF's, I would have to say Vader is my favorite with Grievous being a close second.

I only have four (with Yoda/501st on pre-order http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif ) PF'S, EX Anakin, Grievous, Vader and the Tusken Raider, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE all of them!

Right now, I would have to go with:
1)Anakin

with
2)Grievous
3)Tusken (with rifle)
4)Vader
All VERY close!

PF's, there's really is NOTHING like them! They're in a category all by themselves.

But the Anakin, he's the best human likeness I've seen from any company, and the costume is awesome! He doesn't look like a statue but a mini person on top of my entertainment center. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Definitely have to agree there! As far as character collectibles go, I don't see anything beating premium format. Cinemaquette (http://www.cinemaquette.com/cgi-bin/cinemaquette/index.html) are jaw-dropping, but I don't see them putting out a line of Star Wars anytime soon. That, and none of us could afford it. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anakin is a great likeness - but the two most underrated human likenesses are Obi-Wan and ANH Leia - both superb PFs!!

I'd go with:

5. ANH Leia
6. ANH Luke

Departing from Star Wars PF, I've really been considering the Indiana Jones PF. Everything about it looks great, and seeing that Indy's my 2nd favorite franchise it seems only fitting that I track down a great Indy collectible. Any opinions on this one?

The Indiana Jones 1:4 scale figure is a masterpiece. If you're a serious IJ fan or collector, it qualifies as an absolute must-own.

If you choose to veer further into non-SW territory, I'd also endorse the SS T-800 and Conan the Barbarian PF figures - both are exceptional.

Alright, Here's my top 5 in order

#1 Biker Scout on Speederbike
#2 Luke w/Yoda
#3 Old Ben
#4 Leia (ANH)
#5 Tusken Raider

I have and love the Grevious wich could possibly the most imppressive of all of them but the PT will always take a back set to anything from the OT.

in terms of the indy, just make sure to ask for pics of the actual statue...the paint application on some of them left much to be desired.

And if you are a comic book fan, there are no words to describe the awesomeness of a PF iron man, captain america, Dr.Doom and so on.

For me it would be the following:

1. General Grevious
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi
3. Darth Vader
4. Luke and Yoda
5. Darth Maul/Anakin (tied)

This really hard as I really think Leia ANH is excellent too.

However, the General is the one that I keep looking at time and time again. Just an incredible piece of work.

You're right; it's an exceptional piece. Unfortunately, I can't afford to get into LOTR collectibles, which explains why I don't own one. I also like the Marvel and Hellboy PF figures, though I don't have any of those either.

Oh, I also own the Don Vito Corleone 1:4 scale statue, but in all honesty I think it's kind of a disappointment.

I would have to go with the Anankin EX as my favorite Premium Format figure to date although if I actually owned the Grevious that might be a close second. I just think that the Jedi in particular lend themselves particularly well to this format with the layered robes and cloak. That said where is the Obi-Wan Ep. 3 to go with my Anakin. I would love to see the pose of him standing at the top of the ramp of Padme's starship looking at Anakin on Mustafar.

The PF Indy is hands down my favorite. Yeah, he's a bit tan, but its not that noticeable unless in harsh light. I generally have to point it out to people for anyone to take notice. I just got the notice that the PF Crystal Skull Indy is shipping shortly, so I'm hoping to like that one just as much.

It's one piece that everyone comments on. It's as if they literally shrunk Ford down to scale.

As far as Star Wars goes, Grievous is stupendous.

And I'd like to throw in a vote for ANH Luke Skywalker. Get him in the right light, and the sculpt really shines.

I really gotta pick up Dagobah Luke and Yoda one of these days.

Another upcoming Non-Star Wars Character (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=7520), which looks like a real winner!

Andy

When you consider how the purpose of the Premium Format is to use "museum quality materials" and to take advantage of mixing different media to achieve the effect, there are certain characters that really lend themselves well to the format. Indiana Jones with his leather and fabric... Darth Vader with his metallic helmet and armor contrasted with leather and soft goods... I think Rocketeer fits in very nicely with this format. This contrast of materials is to me what differentiates these from, say, a Gentle Giant statue.

I agree, Hedji. I forsook my GG bust collection in favor of the PF line and haven't looked back since. It really is something else. General Grievous: Perhaps the most striking of the PFs. The sculpting on the limbs is amazing. Gotta get the Exclusive version for the must-have cape.

I just got my first (Grievous) but I'm a huge Boba fan. Does Boba PF even compare to Grievous? I'm also considering the Biker Scout with Bike.

The 501st with Yoda is great! I saw it live at the SDCC and had to go back over and over to look at it. It is truly jaw dropping. I really want this piece. I hope it will be out there on the 2nd market when it comes out.

Does Sideshow give discount for joining any club like Gentle Giant does with their Prem Guild Membership? It would be nice to order with some type of discount.

As far as the Boba PF is concered, it's visually a great piece, no real complaints there. The only problem is with the materials Sideshow used for it. For some reason, Sideshow didn't put an ounce of polystone in it and the whole statue is pretty light. But if you're a Fett fan, it's a must have.

Sideshow doesn't have a collector club, but a reward point system. Every 20 dollars spent= 1 dollar to use toward a purchase. I'm not the biggest fan of the point system, but at least it's something.

No, Sideshow doesn't charge you for the illusion of a preferred customer experience while calling it a "club".

They do offer a percentage of rewards credit on future purchases, so long as the purchases are made direct from Sideshow.

Sideshow also has a weekly promotional email that will sometimes give you early access to order products, free contests to win merchandise, and product and studio updates. I won a free 12 inch Stormtrooper through a newsletter contest.

Awesome photos! Leia is stunning! I had the Grievous with cape on pre-order with SS and then cancelled after I saw the movie . . . he just wasn't my favorite character and I could not justify the huge price tag.

The info on the stormtrooper being made next has my interest! I always wanted the Don Post full size version, this one might have to do instead.

1st Grievous
2nd Indiana Jones
3rd Scout with Bike (Soon to ship)

Ok, so I only have 3 PF, with a 4th on the way. Grievous was my first, Indy Jones was my second, and the Biker Scout on Bike was my third.

I'm really blown away by the Trooper on Speederbike. He has to be my best piece I have in my collection. I would say he ranks above the MR Imperial Walker(AT-AT). The Trooper and Bike are hands down one of the best Star Wars collectible products. I know the Indy Jones beats out Grievous for 2nd place. Grievouse is a very nice piece, but ranks 3rd place.

Love the Vader one and Grievous is by far the best out of all the PF's, amazing is the only word that comes to mind. Looking forward to the Count Dooku one as I think the face sculpt on that one is pretty awesome.

This is by far one of the best Star Wars lines to collect, oh and that Indy is awesome too (one of my non star wars votes).

IMHO, Anakin's face is nicely sculpted and the costume fits perfectly. His pose is very intense, but calm. Now the Tusken, is not calm at all. A lot of action in the pose, and while pictures might make it look odd, it fits the character beyond words.

Both have display limitations as well. Anakin's saber position makes him a little awkward and the Tusken is a lot taller than the other PFs because of his pose.

You can't go wrong with either one, just things I thought I could help point out. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I hate to keep bringing Indy back into this, but my KOTCS Indy may have overtaken my Raiders as my favorite! True, the hip joint in his left leg is a bit odd, but pulling /rearranging his pant folds helps that a bit. But the likeness is dead on! The paint apps are also much better in person than the photo samples SS put up.

I know; people did not respond favorably to the prototype. However, the final product stands as one of the finest PF figures Sideshow has produced.

My vote is for Anakin, well....because he's the only PF I own! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif Anakin reg. arrived today and all I can say is wow! Like others have stated, the likeness is spot on and there's just so much detail to it. Even though there are good pics out there, they really don't do it justice until seeing them in person. I will have to mess around with the robe abit once it's permanently out.

It's packed away right now until I can reorganize my small area I've designated for my SW collectibles until the SS/MR/EXF collection grows to a point where I can use the spare room.

The one thing I noticed though is while Ani is on the stand, even though he's level on the stand, he does rock a bit. Is that normal? I know that the PF's poses can/need to be slightly tweaked once out of the box, so just curious if that's what I need to do to make him more stable. Now I just have to get a MR ROTS LE saber to go with it!

Congratulations Indyjones! It's an awesome piece!

One of the things that kill me is the head was hand sculpted, and is spot on. When you look at the GG mini-bust (I do love that bust too!) depending on the angle of it, it's either spot on, or off a bit, and that was scanned? While the PF no matter what way you look at it, it's Anakin all the way.

It seems like all the PF seem to wiggle a bit. Like slynger says, keep that in mind when handling them.

The clock dose need a little TLC, it can be posed very dramatically or just hanging looking cool.

I must admit that the Anakin does look like one of the best PF's out there at the moment. (At least as far as the Star Wars ones are concerned.)The exclusive on this one is really cool as well. Isn't is a second head with the Sith eyes?

It's not uncommon with the PF figures - they just require, as you say, a great deal of care.

The clock dose need a little TLC, it can be posed very dramatically or just hanging looking cool.

The cloak is the one problem with what is otherwise a truly exceptional piece (others have taken issue with the angle of the lightsaber, but it's not something that really bothers me all that much).

The exclusive on this one is really cool as well. Isn't is a second head with the Sith eyes?
