Timed to be released with today's show is a special Photo Archive update!

Okay folks, I've teased you all long enough...here it is: the all-new AT-ST!

http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/header.jpg (http://www.rebelscum.com/TLCvehATST.asp)

A few additional photos...
http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/LC-032-tn.jpg http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/LC-036-tn.jpg http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/LC-047-tn.jpg http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/LC-048-tn.jpg http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/LC-051-tn.jpg http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Vehicles/ATST/NEW-317-tn.jpg

The wires that normally hold stuff in place have been replaced with string, so it's a little more eco-friendly...which is pretty cool.

There's not enough room to fit Chewie and 2 Ewoks, so just stick Chewie through the canopy...HAHA

The stickers inside the cockpit are pre-applied. >whew!<

Enjoy! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

P.S. And yes, I realized later that I goofed and forgot that the 2007 Ultimate Battle Packs DID in fact include the AT-ST with the Driver...apologies. just skip over that part of the show, okay? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Really enjoyed this weeks show, I've been getting a bit tired of the EU debate (Big EU Fan btw), But Jason's Good demeanor and Jimmy's ever insightful take (and just general massive Knowledge of Star Wars) made for an awesome discussion, and I think we are coming to time of Peace in the Canon wars http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I definitely agree that we as Fans are one big family, regardless of whether we think green rabbit smugglers exist in canon or not... Great Great Podcast, and I will kill a man for that new AT-ST!!!!!!!!!!! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yeah, it was a good show. A lot of great things said. Defining EU is really important. Much of the databank content is, after all, EU; and it's a pretty broad subject too with a diverse range of stories out there in diverse settings; EU fans come in all shapes and sizes and don't have to like it all.

The problem in my view is that Lucasfilm implicitly endorses the canonicity of much of this huge body of work and there's a mixed message being given out with regards to the separation between LucasFilm and George Lucas (especially since there are many that insist that only what Lucas does is canon). When you have Star Wars and LucasFilm branded material there's a certain expectation that what you are reading, watching or playing is official.

That you often also encounter EU derived material in the movies or 'stories crafted with George's involvement', and that so much of this continuity overlaps and supports each other only emphasises that it's an established continuity. Technically, there is no EU. It's all Star Wars.

I have to say my favorite part of this episode was the Billy Dee Segment. Who knew ol' Lando could sing. Thought I was listening to one of my dad's Frank Sinatra CDs for a moment.

Nathan Fillion, were the guys joking? Have they not seen Firefly / Serenity, or Dr. Horrible's sing along blog. Castle is a great show also. Still listening to the show, but I am sure it will be a great show, so I will go ahead and say great show.

Great show as always guys. I really was impressed with how Jason defined the three parts of the EU debate as well as the E-mails that were read. Man, I can't wait for the Billy Dee interview next week!

Another great show from the ForceCast. I did want to make a comment on what they had to say about Something, Something, Something Dark Side and the Live Action Series.

I agree with Jimmy that we may see Family Guy SSSDS on Fox before the DVD release. Fox is a little quirky with their DVD releases of the shows that air on the network. Last November Fox aired a two hour 24 movie (I forget the title) on a Sunday night and the next day or two they released it on DVD. They did the same right after the season finale of 24. They released the box set for season 7 the day after. If I'm not mistaken they have done the same for other shows as well.

As for the Live Action Series premiering Fall of 2010, I won't hold my breath but I would say you still have a 50/50 chance of seeing it then. We are talking something like 14 to 16 months before then. In TV that is an eternity. In filming a live action show as opposed to an animated series, you need less lead time. One thing I like about the creators of Lost and ABC they give a lot of behind the scenes inner-workings of the show, similar to how LFL as done on documentaries over the years. In the summer, before a season starts, the writing staff will get together to break the season down on what they will be dealing with and then start writing. In a traditional series the writers will continue to write episodes over the course of the season. They are sometimes writing a script two weeks before that episode goes before the cameras. Then the episode is filmed sometimes with as little as a month before the air date. Now granted GL is going to do this differently then a traditional series but hasn't he already been interviewing writers? Correct my if I'm wrong but haven't some writers been hired already? Also I see them filming an entire season simultaneously but I don't see them filming all 100 episodes in one major session. That would be like filming close to 15 major motion pictures at the same time. That would be a logistical nightmare. Now with that said I'm not going to get my hopes up for a Fall 2010 premier until LFL says so, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.

They actually reported that on the Forcecast, but I don't know if they just don't recall it or if Jimmy recalls the story and still is willing to bet they air it.

I'm actually leaning towards Jimmy's prediction. Sure, they can make more money by releasing it soley to DVD, but the only market buying it would be Star Wars fans that are Family Guy fans and Family Guy fans. Non-Family Guy fans who are Star Wars fans won't buy it just because it's a spoof. Most importantly, most people won't know it's out on DVD to buy without heavy promotion which costs a lot of money. Some free promotion would be to air it first and plug it's DVD release. Plus, they make the ad money. They might loose some sales to the already-saw-it percentile, but my bet is that's a small loss. The major target for this is fans of both and they're the type to buy it whether they see if first or not.

Nathan is a great guy, met him a couple times and had great conversations with him. He is great in Serenity/Firefly and Castle.

I was actually talking to the computer during this part of the show, questioning how could he not know who he is. Yes, I know Jason couldn't hear me.

He hasn't watched Firefly and he likes TWILIGHT?

The first it quetsionable, the second is inexcusible. The only people who like Twilight are sexually deprived teenage girls who throw their movies stars in front of cars just to get at them.

Jason, if you admit you like teen [censored] like Twilight, I may just reconsider listening to the podcast. No wonder you are so down on the EU if you like that.

1. Can we cool it on the Twilight hating, this is supposed to be a family friendly board, and things are getting a little less than friendly.

2. Not everyone likes Firefly/Serenity, and not all of us worship at the altar of Joss Whedon.

3. We all like different things, most important thing is our love of SW and our enjoyment of the ForceCast.

True. I never like the firefly stuff. I don't have an affinity to sci-fi in general, which is actually common among Star Wars fans. I don't like vampire romance either, but don't hold it against anyone

Thanks for the EU discussion this week.

Even though I don't agree with the stance that's taken on it, I still enjoy listening!

Thanks for the EU Roundtables! I hope we can get more of those. I don't have anyone to discuss the novels with as much anymore and it's nice to be able to listen in on the discussion!

Finally got around to listening to the show today. Really enjoyed it, much better than the previous show and it's "aggressive negotiations"

I'm not sure if any 501st members have spoken up about this, but I sent this as an email already, but I'll put it here for everyone else.

The difference between a "Friend of the Legion" and an "Honorary Member" is pretty small. An Honorary Member is anyone who had direct impact on the Star Wars saga (ie. actors, artists, etc.). Basically, they worked for ILM, Lucasfilm, etc.

A "Friend of the Legion" is anyone of distinction who has contributed to or supported the 501st Legion.

Hi guys and girls

Another great show guys.

Perhaps someone should start some threads for Jason's excellant three questions and try and focus the debate as he suggested. After all, I can't really see Lucas Film or Licencing defining cannon in any more detail than they have already (it is a huge job) so maybe we should draw on the power of the 'Star Wars Family'.

Cracking shoe guys

Im a big EU fan. Like many my big introduction was the Thrawn trilogy. I saw these as possibly it for Star Wars back then, this was pre POTF, pre PT, hell it was even pre bendems!!!!

I like alot of what I have read and I love the Legacy comic (if you haven`t read this, you must. NOW!!!!) I agree the EU has got out of control in places and could do with some unification. I also agree that its GL universe to do with as he wants, its his rules and you either play along or [censored] off.

I read lots of other stuff. Take Transformers or GI Joe they have both been rebooted and have a much more conflicting continuity. Sure there is plenty of flaming, but not like EU. I think that the SW universe is so big, unlike other areas of collecting, it is very easy to get lost in it.

As you guys have said the SW universe is big enough for anyone and everyone to enjoy their fandom in the way they see fit, but as fans we must be respectful of others.

All is right with the world! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have to admit, I was a little put off by the tone of the August 14 show. I tried really hard not to let it get to me and to just let it go, but's it really been bugging me ever since. Of course I'm referencing the whole Karen Traviss rant/gloat/na-na-na-boo-boo "discussion." The funny thing is, the only EU I've ever read are the current Dark Horse comics (still playing catch-up) and the first 2 Republic Commando novels. I'm not even qualified to comment on the rest of the EU!

The thing that got to me was the condescending tone. It was quite the internal struggle for me, seeing as none of my friends are nearly as big of fans of Star Wars as I am. Therefore, I consider Jimmy and Jason to be my best Star Wars friends. They are the guys that I get to have a conversation with every week about my favorite thing (other than my relationship with God and my family). The best part of the show (to me, anyway) has been the fact that Jimmy and Jason never really come across as know-it-alls and that they never belittle other fans or their interest. That's why we love them so much! However, last week's show felt like just that, "we know more than you and you're stupid for disagreeing with us." And I don't even have that strong of an opinion on the whole debate! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But...

To paraphrase that great slice of American cinema, "Dumb and Dumber": Just when I think you couldn't possibly sink any lower (I know the actual phrase is "be any dumber," but it doesn't apply here), you go and do something like this...AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!"

I genuinely appreciated the tone and manner in which the discussion continued this week. I was just about ready to send my e-mail expressing my displeasure with the tone of the August 14 show when I listened to this one. The guys addressed some of the concerns from last week and handled it fairly well. Granted, Jason still didn't seem to think that he had done anything wrong, but at least he explained his intentions well. I couldn't agree more with their comments regarding the family analogy. We can disagree amongst each other, but we'll always stand together when we need to.

I learned a little more about Jimmy and Jason as people this week. And to be perfectly honest, I learned a little more about myself as well.

Thanks guys.

Keep in mind I haven't finished listening to this podcast yet . . .

. . . however I keep wondering if Jason is directing his enthusiasm regarding his prediction of the implosion of the EU to a subset of fans who are much much smaller than he realizes.

For instance in my six or seven years of rebirthing my SW fandom to an intense level I don't think I've ever come across anyone who is vehemently hostile towards GL level canon creators due to any conflict caused as a result of their ignorance of the EU. Most fans I believe just take it in stride.

Who are the You in "I told YOU so”, apart from a few bloggers that Jason has read?
I honestly don't know.

I hate to see our beloved host get more exasperated than he needs to simply because one of us references an idea offered up in the EU that MAY pertain to the OU. Especially when GL level creators themselves may eventually consider welcoming that idea into the official universe - not unlike holocrons or EU characters found in the films.

I keep thinking of Jay Sheppard the biggest fan of the EU I can imagine. Does he really defy OU creators because they conflict with previous EU concepts? Again, I think like most he just takes it in stride.

Who’s throwing EU facts in Jason’s face as gospel and insinuating that he is gravely ignorant as a SW fan and must face the EU truth?!

If these people are out there, I’ll be right by his side – let me at ‘em! But until then I would want Jason to know as a fan who is not comfortable with EU ideas until they're sanctioned by George that he's in good company with the majority of us who simply entertain the idea that many of those EU elements are possibly "real".

We could all ignore the entire EU contribution towards the convienence of one fan but I don't think Jason would want that.

Peace brother(s) in the Force.

Amen - now we're talking!
Personal Canons Rule!!

Qualifier:
For some, not everyone of course, we all have a choice and will live in harmony. And "rule" should not be taken literally - just a figure of speech, just a away of showing enthusiasm, nothing more. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
