So we're about a week from the Premiere of Star Trek XI so who's thinking of seeing it? Trailers make it look pretty cool and some of the advance buzz is saying its not a bad film. I'm just hoping its not the WTF fest that Nemesis was, even though I kinda enjoyed it LOL

Definately planning on going to Mayfair to see it... anyone else planning on goin there? Maybe make it an unofficla CHG outing?

I probably will see it, but only because everybody else is seeing it. I am not a Trek fan. I am just going to be social and stuff.

I want to see it, but will probably have a free movie ticket, which Mayfair AMC doesn't accept. I gotta go to Marcus. A friend is trying to convince me to go to the new Ultra Screen at North Shore...

I don't mean to brag, but a group of us got free preview tickets to see Trek Tuesday night!
OK, maybe I did mean to brag, just a little. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
We'll let you all know how it is!

Should any part of the group come down with a case of the swine flu or can't go for some other reason, LMK!!

I am not a Star Trek fan, but I liked it. It was entertaining. That is all I was looking for. The
only part I didn't get was..... Oops! I better not
say. I don't want to spoil it for the people who
haven't seen it.

I saw it this evening, first 7pm showing at Mayfair. I couldn't take it anymore, been looking forward to this movie for ages and I was NOT disappointed! I loved the new cast, they kept the spirits of the original, but updated it.

Although for those of you who've seen it, did anyone get a bit of a Starship Troopers vibe from the way that Starfleet operated? The kind of "You're - this position - until you die, I find someone better or I get back."

I really enjoyed it. I'm glad a read the prequel comics though. Otherwise I would've been like everyone else and clueless about who Nero was until half way through the movie.

I liked it as a stand-alone movie, but I don't like that they changed the Trek future as we know it. You may consider it an alternate reality, but I consider it changing the future, and wish they hadn't done that... I had many problems with it, because I like to nitpick. But for mindless entertainment, if you try not to think about what they changed, it was entertaining... But I did NOT like the romance they added between two of the lead characters. It was unnecessary...
