View Full Version : Portable MP3 Device

I am just curious to see what everybody is using for a portable MP3 player, if you have one. I had a 30gb Zune, but sold it to a fellow collector because I bought my sister's 80gb Zune and she got a 120gb Zune.

8GB Nano, 4th gen.

I would have liked a little more storage but I got it as a x-mas gift so I'm not complaining! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a 60gb i-Pod...got it when it came out. Then for a wedding gift to my wife a couple years ago, i got her a 80gb i-Pod. It was the price. Now they have a freakin' 160gb i-Pod for the same price as I paid for my 60gb! AAAAHHHHHHHHHH! oh well!

Got a 2gig Sony Walkman - not a bad player, does video and has an FM tuner, although I do want to get a player with more space. But I paid $25 bucks for it last March when it was on clearance, SO I can't complain too much.

I'd love to get an iPod Touch or one of the iPod Classics, something that would let me just dump my entire MP3 collection onto so I don't have to putz around with uploading and deleting files on the player. Plus it would be nice to pop some movies or tv shows on it for trips.

Although that new Sony Walkman that's coming out that's sorta iPod touchlike looks kinda sweet. One thing I like about Sony is that at least they put the volume control as actual buttons not on screen and they have FM tuners built in, which is nice when you're hearing tornado sirens or something in the summer!

Oh yeah and I kinda do merch and demo work for Sony... so I'm kinda biased LOL http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Although I wish Sony would actually build in WMPorts on more things! Its nuts, they put iPOD docks on their hometheaters but not WMPort docks?

Sounds like everybody has ipods, except for me and Nick. Doesn't surprise me. I wish I had access to an ipod to see how it works, so I could honestly say if the Zune or ipod is better.

I use my phone (4GB card) and a wireless transmitter. Good enough for me... I'm anti-Mac, so you won't catch me with an Ipod...

I have an Gen 1 30G Zune, my son has a Gen 2 4GB Zune, and my wife has a Gen 4 4G iPod Nano.
As a device the newer Zune are really nice. Wireless, games and built in FM Tuner.
I also tend to like the Zune software better then iTunes
Accessories easily go to the iPod. Almost everything has an iPod interface anymore. We bought a sound bar to go with the new LCD tv and it has a built in iPod dock.

Do you have something against Gen 3? Where's the love?

I like the Gen 1 control better than the Gen 2. It is hard to get use to the new control. The Gen 2 is slightly smaller, and it can play more video formats. If anybody has an ipod, please bring it to the next Cheesehead Garrison meeting if you are going. I would like to take a closer look at one.

I've got a Gen 2 Nano. I've been meaning to pick up a new one but I can't stand going into the Apple store.

FYI, TRU has the 16gb on sale for $179 ($20 off).
