I really didn't want to like this figure. Really! I generally only buy the 25th versions of figures I don't own the 80's version of, and I have a few vipers. But I gotta say, this is one awesome looking figure. Just like the Crimson Guard figure, I just love the look of how the Hasbro team has updated to a modern look while retaining all the aspects that made the original great in the 1st place.

That's the first pic of the Viper that I've seen that really impresses me... I also wasn't wanting to like this figure!

As a kid, I had 5 of these, and it was my favorite figure for a long time. So, needless to say, I'll probably have to get a few of these.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't like how this guy turned out very much. The original Viper was one of my favorite figures ever, and I have over twenty of the original version now. I think this new version, while not completely horrible, suffers from some serious design flaws. From the skinny legs, to the awkward wrist positions, to the incorrectly shaped, indented helmet. There's just too many things that jump out at me as 'wrong'. Oh, well. More for you guys!

That's pretty much how I feel about the Crimson Guards actually.

I'm thinking that the awkward wrist positions may be a fix Hasbro is trying to help hold their rifles better. I don't know, and won't until I have one in hand. That's what it looks like to me though.

I'm also feeling that the CG's legs are way too skinny. I was going to start a new thread asking what figures people would like to have fixed for future releases, btu I haven't gotten around to it yet. The CG legs would be my vote.

Yeah, I had issues w/ the CGs as well when I first saw the pics, and I initially planned to pass on them. However, when I saw one in person, it looked cooler somehow, and I had to buy it. I now have four of 'em! So I guess it's possible the same will happen when I see a Viper on the pegs...

It's just hard trying not to army build some of these Cobra troops. I already built up a lot of my ARAH armies, and I've been telling myself that I'm not going to do the same with this new line. I want the 25th line to compliment my ARAH stuff, not rival it!

I agree about the 25th Crimson Guard. He's an Ok figure, but I'm not liking him nearly as much as the ones in the TRU Twins packs. If the scale was interchangeable, I wouldn't have bothered with the new CGs at all.

Viper on the other hand, I'm digging on.

Viper looks great. The 25th anniv. line seems to be doing very well. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I hate to bring up an old topic, but this is about the Viper so it seemed more fitting for this topic. Has anyone else found all three cardback variations for this guy? There's the typical metallic GI Joe logo, a more mirror-like logo, and the newer white logo (with "as seen in the cartoon" in the upper right corner).

I've found all three versions recently. I'm guessing there are other figures from this same wave that will have three versions as well?

Also, it seems a lot of people dislike this figure. I don't get it... he's a great figure. The only thing I dislike is the vest, because it doesn't snap shut very well (on mine, anyway). He's one of the few 25th figures that can actually hold his rifle as though he's shooting it. I don't mind troop building this guy, and hope we get a battle pack with a few of him. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif
