Clone trooper squads

Hey Deak_Starkiller is it actually 10 in a squad since you have 9 Troopers led by a Sergeant... or is the sergeant included in the 9..? 10 would make a nice round number...

It's ten. You have to count the sargeant as he's a permanent part of the squad.

yeah thats what I thought... 10 is a good number for rows of troops nine would be akward...

No, the sergent is included in the 9. You have 9 clones one of which is a sargeant. If you look at a platoon you have 4 suads of 9 to equal a platoon. I don't think you stop including the Officer untill you actually reach a real officer (Lt./platoon).

YES in the clone army thats the way its set up normaly.In the book republic commando,the commando's are slimed down to groups of four troopers and one of the four is the sergeant.In special operations its 4 men to a squad. 20 men or 5 squads to a troop, and 100 men or 5 troops to a
company.
Thats also in starwars insider issue#84.Now remember, that just like the real armed forces and special ops. The size of the unit,the transport and amount of equipment used (also known as logistics) can change,it all depends on the mission.....

okay I see now... so you could have a platoon deployed to a planet surface made up of an elite 9 - (4) man squad or 4 - (9) man squads... just as an example... cool thanks for that... will really help designing my army and special units...

so I would think when anakin lead the 501st into the jedi temple it should have been rows of nine... also bail organa said he saw thousands of troops go into the jedi temple so going by the GAR troop deployment guideline above it would have been some where in this area:

Corps:
4 Legions (36,864 troops) led by a Clone Marshall Commander and a Jedi General

Legion/Bridage:
4 Regiments (9216 troops) led by Senior Clone Commander and a Jedi General

Regiment:
Battalions (2304 troops) led by a Jedi Padawan Commander

Just watched the movie slow mo its 7 rows of 12 troopers each row.84 troopers per wave.I saw at least 5 waves.That would be 420 troopers or more so one whole battalion of 501ST clones at least attacked the temple.Thats around 588 troopers and officers.


As far as the squad leader looking same or not I would not know that.In the real armed forces the uniform is the same in combat,its the stripes,bars or stars that show rank...
In many but not all S/F UNITS stripes or bars are not worn in cambat.Most S/F units the rank is sergeant or higher any way and rank is informal in combat.S/F performs as one unit everyone pulling their share of the dutys.Regular army has a chain of command that performs differant rolls.Thats only from what little I know about the regular army.S/F I know alittle bit more about.The marine units work alittle bit like both put together.

well I'm going with nine man squads... thats including the commander... just like the army in real life... in the last few days since this thread started I have aquired 2x9 man squads... one red shock trooper squad and one clone commander squad from the evolutions pack (yellow) to be led by bly... I'll post some pics as soon as they arrive... I'm on my way to my first platoon of clones
