Re: Dear Hasbro: Drop your prices!

Here's my take... Hasbro will continue to jack up their prices as long as collector's continue to buy every re-packaged figure they put out. For ages now they continue to make the same old characters & yes, adding a bit of variation now & again, but we are paying up the wazoo for packaging style! We certainly are not paying for Hasbro's "creative team" to brainstorm up new & interesting characters. Lord knows they are the most unimaginative group ever. How can anyone justify having a toy line, where everytime a new 'wave" of figures comes out, they somehow manage to weasel in a New Hope style Leia,or a "escape from mos eisley" style Han???? We've had what, only 1 single version of Ree Yees in the past 10 years???? And I won't get started on the tons of expanded universe figures they won't make.Sorry for the rant! Prices will drop again on the figures...they always do.Give it 6 months, they'll be $2.00 each. They will saturate this line of ROTS toys just like they did with TPM line & between ebay & bargin bins at TRU & other stores, eventually we will pay a "fair" price for what these figures are worth!

I totally agree with all that was said in this forum with the economy of Hasbro (God-- I miss Kenner).

Instead of Hasbro losing ideas and thus, making a 15th version of Han Solo. . . They should do more of the Expanded Universe figures from the novels and comic books. There are an obnoxious amount of figures to be made from there.

So I do not want to hear that Hasbro lost ideas (Hasbro is just getting lazy). As for the cost, I totally agree with you all. . . Hasbro is LAZY and a CROOK. . . However, I have to still buy those SW figures. . . Unfortunately, I have been very selected now in what figures I really want for my collection. In 1998, I remember buying 2 figures of each character. . . That is not at all the case now 7 years later.

Anyway. . . That's my 2 cents (well, 1 cent-- I need an extra cent to buy that Hasbro figure that I am saving up for.)

I think one of the main things hasbro has done to shoot itself in the foot has been simply the amount of figures it has released in past years - i mean i think we were at about 20 a year up until E1 and now we're on more like 70-80 i know a lot of people who have been put off by this and instead of buying 1 (or 2) of each figure have had to target their collection more and in the end have bought less figures overall - i know it's touch or go at the moment whether i am gonna keep up with two of each - E3 is gonna be expensive.

    I also agree...

I'm kind of happy though....these prices helped me see how useless buying the same character over and over again.

I wish i'd learnt that lesson also - but i just cant do with what i'd see as an incomplete collection - suppose that's the compulsive collector in me
