    Sideshow lands SW license

I had no idea that Sideshow Collectibles was in the mix for a SW license. I just can't wait to see what character will be their first 1/4 scale statue (which will be huge! ). My guess is that they will open up this line with Vader. Does anyone here know anything else about this?

As a collector of the 12" star wars line this is awesome news!! Now, I don't know for sure if they will even do 12" but there's got to be a good chance. The possibilities are endless really. This license could lead to some amazing stuff. Especially some of the 1/4 scale statues! Oh my!!

That's odd really... I doubt Hasbro wants to give up their 12" lisence, GG definitely wont want to give up their statuary lisence... Im very intersted to find out what they are going to be making. I guess LFL could always have two licenses for a product, but that'd seem wierd... 12" figures do seem like the primary choice though, and I expect Sideshow could do well with it.

This has to be the license for the 12" figures. These are the only items that have kind of been left by the wayside. Hasbro has done a horrible job with them except for the new votc 12".

What if these were a 2nd series of exclusive high end limited edition 12" figures like they did with the Amidala Collection for EP1? Then Hasbro could produce the so called toys and Sideshow could produce the collectibles. This would fit better into Sideshows way of doing business. Then we as collectors would select these as we do the GG busts, just pick the ones we prefer, like Vader. They would do like 6 a year, with presells and internet availabilty. This could work and not really interfer with Hasbro, since these would not really be toys, but collectibles.

I guess I should have read the story, it says 1/4 scale statues right there lol That seems really bizarre, since GG is doing two scales of statues. Odd......

As far as I know they have only mentioned 1/4 scale statue/figure line with no hint of also making 1/6 scale figures (12" figures). To say that Hasbro has done a terrible job with the 12" SW line is an understatement but I doubt Hasbro would just let the 12" line go without having something to gain on their side. There is nothing I would like to see more than for GL to give the 12" line to Sideshow but I really don't see that happening any time soon .

I'm excited about this. I have some of Sideshow's Lord of the Rings items and the quality and details is simply amazing on them. I can not wait to see what they come up with as I will collect them and Gentle Giant's as well. Can never have too many high end, good quality, Star Wars statues!

Yeah, I guess I should have read more of the story before I posted about the 12" figures. It states only information for 1/4 scale figures (for now). One can always hope.
I think the coming years are really going to be great for star wars statue collectors in general. You have statues for really every price range.
    GG for around $150
    Sideshow for $200-250
And then of course Attakus at $300 and higher.
All the companies make awesome items so I can hardly wait to see what comes out. I know that Attakus is making statues in their next line by using a customer poll to see what they would like next. Heading the list is a Biker scout with speederbike. This will likely be another $1000 item along the lines of Jabba. Very cool regardless!

    Re: Sideshow lands SW license

I dont get it. Why the need to give license for Sideshow to manufacture even more statues when Gentle Giant is allready doing an outstanding job, not to mention Attakus and Kotobukiya? Sure they are going to be bigger but what the collectors really need are better 12" SW figures and Sideshow can pull that off easily. So what gives?? Is it because the big H is wussed out for a little competition? Then that I can understand.
