Given the description above I hope to God I never get one....

I've heard they're painful, but WOW! I'm never peeing again!
Gorge, guzzle and wench, for tomorrow we get gutted.
Ouch, just reading this stuff is making my innards lock up. I think I feel woozy.
Impressive... Most Impressive...But you are not a Jedi, yet!
<font size="2" face="arial">It depends on the type of stone, there are a few different types of kidney stones, some are from calcium build ups, some are hereditary, and some are dietary and easilly avoided once properly diagnosed. Luckilly mine were uric acid stones, which are caused by an inballance of uric acid in your system, easilly ballanced by a slight change in diet( LOTS more water, juice and clear soda), and 8 to 10 pills a day(amount of pills vary based on uric acid ballance).Originally posted by metaljedi:
The thing Im curious about is how do you get them?? From Joseph's description I never want to get them.
Cheers

This is what I've heard, & it corroborates what most of you here have said: according to some study about what people have found painful, kidney stones placed second. (Giving birth placed first.) So my guess is, that if you have kidney stones, you know you have kidney stones. Immediately.
Just curious, Chewbacca, what brings this question to mind?

I've had three or four kidney stones, and JosephY is right on the money. In my case, the pain in the lower back is by far the worst part of it. The puking is always nice, and pacing the floor is all I can do when the medication won't ease the pain.
I've only knowingly passed two stones. I've had the kidney pain a few times more. An ER doctor once swabbed me when she was trying to rule out STDs as the source of my discomfort. I protested because I've been married 9 years and haven't messed around, but she insisted. If you've never been swabbed for STDs, I can't begin to describe it. Mother of Crap, I was sore for a week.
When I went to see my current doctor about kidney stone pain, she asked if I drank alcohol. I told her that I usually have a beer with dinner. I walked out of her office not with pain medication or information on how to deal with kidney stones, but with a pamphlet on alcoholism.

I had a kindney stone 2 years ago and hope to god to eNEVER have another.
The pain is innexplicable.
imagine having a 12 inch knife stb you in the back. there is also nausea as stated above. If you are lucky, you will be in a fetal position on the floor crying from the pain for only 30 minutes at a time.
My Urologist told me the pain comes only when the stone is passing from the kidney towards the "exit"
Stones can be caused by many factors including NOT drinking enough water a day or even eating too much CHEESE.
I pray that none of you ever get this. And if you do have one, trust me..YOU WILL KNOW !!!

poor woman used have to brace herself long the wall next to the toilet to do her business-
she said giving birth is a picnic compared to passing her stone
