REAL OR FAKE 12 BACK R2D2 & C3PO -If real, worth asking price ungraded?

    Hi guys,

    12 Back r2d2 & c3po

If this is in the wrong section I apologize but since I don't have the expertise and these are not AFA graded, I really would like everyone's opinion of these two specimens I have the option to purchase and if they are legit based on your knowledge. I believe they are legit as the seller has sold several high priced figures and those collectors were very happy and he claims these came straight from a display at a toy store 35 years ago and have since stayed in storage together will all the rest, essentually never being moved.

I see lots of wear on the back of R2 and a small tear by the price section on the 3po. What would you grade these and would you pay $1600 for both if you had the opportunity not being AFA graded.

Here are the pics I was sent- Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

They look fine to me, but I wouldn't pay more than $800-1,000 for these two guys ungraded.

    Pricing

The seller is offering them both for $1600 total, so you think they are legit but that its too high for ungraded unless I could get both for under $1000?

I'd agree... $1600 is too much from the pics.

They're nice pieces but definitely on the high end. You mentioned AFA...If you're into AFA you can find 80's for a lot cheaper and maybe even get lucky and score an 85.

Both have 80 cards, and most likely 80 final grades. Graded about $600-700 each, ungraded $350-450 is much more reasonable for similar condition ones. If I was buying ungraded, remember no guarantees as some veins won't show up in photos. With the age on the R2 Body, I see no rush to spend $1k. It is a gamble. If either turns out to be a 75 (afa is harder on 12 backs lately), you could have had a 75 example under $400ea...

    Best wishes!

(Make sure if you buy them, you have a paypal or ebay refund possibility just in case of shipping damage or something unforseen...)

I would be very surprised if that R2 scored higher than a 75. The rubs on the back of the card are the main culprit for the downgrade.

Thanks everyone. I'll steer clear. I think I'll wait for some reasonable AFA 85's to pop up.

Everybody that chimed it was pretty much right about pricing. The thing is 3PO is one of the easier pieces to find graded and cheap. R2 not so much...but it is possible.
