Well I'll say this much, he's definitely got the strange going on in his acting abilities! So I could possibly see it, plus he and Disney have a relationship.
I'll also have to say that he wasn't as bad in the Lone ranger as I thought he'd be...
My thought (as expressed in the comments at the link I posted) is that Depp absolutely has the ability to pull off the role. When you think of his full body of work, he's not always just kooky, off-kilter characters.
But keep Tim Burton and Gore Verbinski far, FAR away from the project. FAAAAR away.
I'm... i'm okay with this. Yeah, I'm okay with this!

I saw a rumor about Jon Hamm. I could handle that better than Depp.
Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?
The problem, I think, is that people nowadays seen the name Johnny Depp and think Tonto, Captain Jack, and Willy Wonka. They tend to forget about things like Public Enemy, Finding Neverland, and The Tourist. Depp really is a phenomenal actor who's just been doing a lot of "quirky" roles lately.

I don't like depp at all im exhausted with his weird stuff and even when he does serious stuff I always feel like he is acting serious. meaning he does these cartoonish over the top characters but even his serious roles to me he seems like hes a caricature of someone being serious. I am fed up with him at all and considering I loved him when I was in highschool in the late 80s.
