Price Check: AFA 90 Vinyl Jawa for $9k? Deal or no deal

There is a dealer with a AFA 90 Jawa, straight 90 subs, offering the figure for 9k. I've seen the AFA 85 types go for ballpark 6-8k. Need some opinions on this price before I consider it any further. I am in a position where I could afford it but don't want to pull the trigger too hastily and without some member input. Thanks

For investment purposes (I.e. reselling) its probably a good price since high grade 12 backs are through the roof at the moment. If you're planning on keeping it for a while though you could find an 85 which in all likelihood looks identical, for half the price. Keep in mind that moc vcj's aren't really rare to being with. Good luck,

    For 12 back Jawas a 90 is about a population of 14 VC, 2 Non-VC.

If subgrades are 90's then it is high, but not insane at $9k (but still cheaper than ebay might hit).

It's like a high grade comic. Why buy a high grade Spiderman one, when a slightly less grade one is far cheaper- Sotheby's and Christie's won't ever get the insane prices for the lower grade.

Is $9k a lot? Yes, but due to rarity of the grade (not the figure), it is pretty solid for an investment piece.

Yes...even if you made 1K off of it....that is still 1K. Keep that in mind. Plus you might be even willing to trade it for something you might like.

Yes, and no... If ebay'd at $10k, fees are about $1k, so break even...

Buyers pay the majority of fees at an auction house?
I thought ebay fees were capped.

I wasn't talking about eBay. That is fine though....you are right as far as eBay is concerned.

Not out here or at most auction houses I've dealt with. Usually a 15-35% fee and a buyers premium(10-17%) added on top of selling price.

Ebay fees are semi-capped, from my understanding, but reflect a variable percentage after $1111 ish, and paypal is another 3-4%...
