DARTH VADER ROTJ 1:1 Sideshow Collectibles

Hey guys, finally back from Cali, settled in and ready to post some stuff.
As some of you are already aware, I was fortunate enough to develop the 1:1 Darth Vader ROTJ for Sideshow Collectibles.
I provided the costume components and sculpted the custom mannequin with my friend Erik Gaadt, and the talented Kristina Leigh made all the fabric based items.
Sideshow's goal for this piece was not necessarily to create a rough prop accurate statue down to the last booger, but rather an idealized representation of what we feel captured the overall essence of Vader.
The mannequin was based on the physique of David Prowse and was strategically partitioned out into sections to make shipping less expensive and assembly easier.
The costume components are non-wearable and non-removable.
In the pics/videos, the gloves are only stand-ins as they were not ready for SDCC.
The final gloves will be much more accurate.

At some point here in the not too distant future, we'll be doing a more comprehensive interview/video presentation with Sideshow's team.
In the meantime, here are some pics and an exclusive video Kristina and I did with the RPF.
PS, if you have any other pics or videos you want to share, please feel free to post in this thread!

    Hope you guys enjoy

I had to reply with quote - I can't get enough of this Vader!!

I had the opportunity to see this in person at SDCC on Friday and it was just so well-made -- the leather work, the cloth, everything just looked magnificent, and my wife told me, "You know you have to get this Vader. It'll be your centerpiece."
to which I replied ," well of course I have to get this." (even if I have to sell a kidney to do so...")

This is the lifesize I have been waiting for...I just hope that the official one for mass (by mass I think I mean maybe 500 pieces?? Don't know yet) I just hope it is nearly as good -- Gino said the mass prod version would likely have a more wet-looking, gloss finish on the Helmets vs the hand polishing done on the props - which is totally fine with me...This is an amazing Figure in person and if you are a Vader collector - I highly highly , recommend this one especially if you don't already have a custom/ home-made lifesize Vader ...

Hey Gino, looks amazing. Any rough ETA for this? I certainly want to pull the trigger on this one, but need time to set the money aside!

Bravo Gino and not enough can be said about this Vader. I love everything about it and if this can get produced, I would be honored to have it in my collection. I hope SSC can offer many payments,
Always a pleasure to meet a Jedi.

This is looking awesome, but fear few are going to afford this.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but really the only reason I can see this being more expensive than Darth Malgus is a higher licensing fee. Malgus it can be argued would be the technically more difficult of the two. I really hope they hold this to $6k or less. I'll probably be disappointed. LOL.

    Congrats Gino!

This is easily the most stunning 1:1 Vader ever produced. As demorathis said, if they nail the mass production, this will be THE GRAIL of all grails!

You sir, are one truly talented artist.

Thanks Gino! I'd love to have it in 2013, but 2014 might be better financially, lol.
