    G1 remakes/re-issues help!

Hello! I'm trying to get a few G1 figures over a period of time, mainly Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Starscream. I was curious, what are the best, and cheapest, versions of these characters to get? I want them to be as g1 as possible. Thanks for the help!

Think about it for a while. Now I bet you're hungry.

If your not high maintenance and a stickler then you can get the tru exclusive Soundwave. It comes with ravage and lazrbeak. If the "fat door" bothers you that much then you'll have to shell out almost double the $ and get the sdcc version.
I'm the best out there since Jango lost his head.

The only way to go is to buy the original versions or the reissues, I'd save up and buy them over a period of time. You'll feel better and more proud of what you've purchased. You can obtain loose versions for decent amount of dollars if you look hard enough.

If not then maybe start collecting the Classics line, this line is modern versions of the G1 figures with todays articulated standards.

I'm trying to stay away from classics. They are not perfect G1 versions and it kind of bugs me.

I would also like some specific advice, like "Which reissue (Thanks for the help Cad, wasn't sure which Soundwave was cheaper or not)" and "How much is that issue".

Just my opinion but I'd suggest encore Skylinx. If you aren't familiar with him check out a review. G1 Megatron re-issues are pretty expensive. When I was contemplating getting them last year they were $75 and up on eBay. Shockwave hasn't been re-issued for some legal reasons due to them not owning mold rights or something. Soundwave was a must for me and apparently you too. There are a decent amount of loose actual real g1 on eBay most of the time I believe. P.S. A shockwave was kind of released but with a grey/silverfish paint job under the name of "Astro magnum" I believe.

To tag on to this, I figured I would ask people who would know more than me.

So I don't get scammed, what are some things to look out for during my hunt for a vintage G1 Prime? Like the direct difference between the re-issue and the origional. Is there date stamping etc..?

Aside from just looking at wear and tear, I just don't want to get ripped off. I need to be able to see the difference. I have done research on seibertron and other forums, but have found close to NOTHING that I can use to determine on the fly what is real G1 and what is not. Maybe some help to a newb on TF G1 collecting?

Longer smoke stacks would be a start when it comes to finding an original, some reissues since have had them shortened but be aware that people can swap them around.

Good tip, so origional had long stacks. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah. An original Transformer will be copyright stamped Hasbro, Takara, Japan and then a date, although the very first releases only had Takara and dates. Reissues will have the same info but with China (rather than Japan) and a 20xx date. FredsWorkshop.com is a good page for learning the differences. You should also beware of Zhong Jin fakes which on Ebay look exactly like the real things, there's a page detailing the things to look for here - Comprehensive G1 Counterfeit / "Knockoff" ID Guide | HIGHENDTFS.COM - G1 Counterfeit ID Guides

I very rarely come on this forum anymore (this is the first time in months), so I probably won't see a response but if you need more questions answered, you can PM me on the TFW2005 forums, my name on there is Genetic.
