    Vintage Posters...

For the most part I stick mainly to figures, however I want to get a nice vintage poster or two for my collection room. The thing is that I am totally unfamiliar with vintage posters and their values etc. Can interesting vintage posters in good shape be found for under 20 or 30? What should I look for when purchasing a poster? Anything else I should know? Thanks for the help.

Seems to me all the vintage movie posters go for big money. I think you may be able to get a character poster that a kid may hang in his room for under $50. I just bought replica movie posters and got really nice stainless steel frames for them. They look amazing!

Thats kind of what I was thinking although I would also be interested in pretty much any vintage poster with Star Wars subject matter. In fact the more unusual the poster the more interesting it is to me. Maybe non movie posters can be found for less?...If not there are always replicas

you'd be surprised how much the market for posters has come down. Original SW posters can go for good money but you can find some great deals, too.

it all depends on what you want to spend. $30 won't get you an original 1 sheeter (unless you want anything from the prequels), but i scored an original german A3 sized hand bill for under that, you can find single original lobby cards for under that (USA release or Mexican release). and to have them framed up looks good, though they are relatively small.

but for original 1 sheeters, quads or daybills etc etc, you have to pay in the hundreds for those, even more for the rarer ones.

Those look great and I have thought about doing something like that. I have been considering reprints and they would be much cheaper than the originals. Then maybe later down the road when I get a real job I will be able to afford an original. Also thanks for the link.

no problem, i have about $150 invested in that with the frames. Got them half off and the posters off ebay. Great quality.

I always prefer reprints for display because you won't have a great loss if they fade due to sunlight through the windows, etc. I had a basement flood one time and was really bummed because some of my posters (which were in tubes mind you) were ruined and more than a few were originals. I vowed to only have reprints after that.
