    2012 UEFA European Soccer Championship

    So, who is your favorite?

These are my candidates: Germany, Netherlands and Spain although Russia had a pretty good start

    I'll take Spain

Some interesting matches so far. Germany is in the group of death and hopefully they can beat the Netherlands of Wednesday. Italy played really well against Spain last night.

It's always hard predicting things like this and everything can change from game to game. Germany has the ability to win it this year and I think they will. Of course just because I want that, doesn't mean it's going to happen.

    France-England should be interesting today.

I agree very difficult to predict nowadays specially in the European Championship. The Netherlands result was a shocker but I believe that they will come back. Germany is always dangerous no matter what. England comes a bit banged up but I agree again that today's match vs. France should be a good one.

A very banged up and somewhat inexperienced England team just held a strong French team to a tie. And that includes the somewhat one sided officiating by the Italian ref, who handed out two yellows to England, and none to France, despite the French taking down more English players. It also seemed that every time England started to mount some offence, that damn Italian ref would blow a whistle and give a VERY marginal call that usually resulted in a French free throw. The ref was obviously biased, and we had a lot of adversity, yet our boys came through with the point. And yes, I DO give credit to the French for their excellent ball possession game.

The rest of their group is easier. When people are back from injury and Rooney serves his suspension (one more game), watch out.

The game was pretty boring although Englands defense played well. I agree that the rest of the schedule looks easy, but that Ukraine-Sweden had a nice tempo. Sweden has to win or at least draw against England or they're out, which makes the final game against France interesting as well. I stil expect France and England to make it to the next round though.

Well, we're going into the second game matches, so we'll start getting a better picture of where this is going or maybe an even muddier one.

I think England made it boring on purpose. They knew with the injuries/suspensions, that they'd have a hard time matching France on an offence game, so they threw up the stifling wall and just looked for opportunities. I agree it was boring (frustrating for an England supporter too), but it not only salvaged a point for them, but more importantly, kept France from a 3 point lead in the group.

Yes, most teams play with the point system in the first round and I agree with Ian that the tie was way more beneficial for England, there are still 2 games left for each team on this first round so still the top 2 slots for each groupare up for grabs. I can see it goind down to the line in the 3rd and final game for each group, very exciting

That Ukraine-Sweden was back and forth I agree with that Trooper, it's amazing to see Scheva with that energy and carrying his team at 35 years old, that's what a leader is!

Group A still up for grabs, good high scoring game today between Portugal and Denmark. Today's germany-Netherlands match should be a very good one, must win situation for the Dutch!
