So, even with 2 wins in 2 games Germany isn't through yet and with two losses the Dutch still have an outside chance of making it to the round of 16. They need to play for a win against Denmark, but a tie would be fine as well. I'd like to see the Dutch beat Portugal on Sunday. It would be nice to see both Portugal and the Netherlands go home, but I don't see that happening.

That's amazing, I though Netherlands was done with 2 losses but you are right, they are still in mathematically. Spain made a statement yesterday.

It's nice to watch the game without those blasted Vuvuzelas humming in the background!

Man, Cristiano Ronaldo and co. killed the Dutch team today, congrats to Germany and Portugal for making it to the second round.

Germany are awesome. They looked good in the last world cup but now they look the complete package with a team that looks strong all over the park. It seems to me that the the standard of football they play is consistently high. As for England..... I have to say that whilst the game against Sweden was an entertaining game for the neutral (which I wasn't) that it seemed to me that they made Sweden, a pretty average team, look a lot better than they are. A win is a win but I'm not sure they'd stand a chance against the Germans (Ah Germany, Germany. Sigh).

And yes, the absence of the Vuvuzela is most welcome. In all honesty I was quite glad there was no England band playing either at first. Hearing 'The Great Escape' repeated for ninety minutes is soul destroying. Yawn... I didn't notice them during the Sweden game and I'm not sure of they were there. If you've ever been to a game where they are present (any game since 1996) then you may well have found it destroyed the atmosphere of the game. The nearer you are, the worse it gets.

Thinsg are shaping up. One last day and the quarter finals will be all set. It will be strange not having any games on Wednesday.

    YES!

We avoid Spain in Round 2. We get the worst divers in the sport instead, but it's better than the #1 team in the world.

It was scary on that near goal though. I think the ball was right on the line when it was kicked out, and it became a judgment call on the ref to allow or disallow it. I don't think it completely crossed the line, so good call, but I'm sure the pro-Ukaine people will make a compelling case for being robbed. One of the hardest decisions to ever make on that one. As it turns out, it didn't matter - they needed a win, not a tie.

And what the hell happened to France? They chose a bad time to have a stinker, losing 2-0 to an eliminated team on a day they could have won the group.

Not liking France's odds against Spain. Despite that they're two of my favorite teams France was just emberrassing today, could be a fun match you never know.

I'm not sure how many angles of the Ukarine goal they showed in England, but in Germany they showed a number of angles and the ball was clearly across the line. Terry played it perfectly although I don't know whether he could have known if the ball was in or out, but how the goal referee didn't see that it was in is beyond me. A draw wouldn't have done anything for the Ukraine anyway, so in the end it doesn't really matter. France stunk up the place last night and gets the pleasure of facing the Spanish.
