Most underrated modern GI JOE figures....discuss

Think it's been a while since this topic has been brought up, but it's always fun.

Everyone knows about and loves the real gems of the modern Joe line: Renegades Storm Shadow, POC wave 3 Snake Eyes, Lowlight, Zombie Viper, etc. But who do you think is the best Joe figure to never get any love?

I'm opting for the POC Wave 1 Snake Eyes: YOJOE.COM | Snake Eyes. I was going through my Joe figures the other day and took him out, I actually forgot all about him. A really nice figure, overall. He was released at a time when most were sick of SE figures (there were about 5 or so in the ROC line right before it). He was also greatly overshadowed by the Wave 3 Snake Eyes, which many consider to be the Ultimate version of the character. He was also overlooked because of the much-maligned POC Wave 2 Karate Tornado Kickin' or whatever SE (which I bought on $3 clearance and used for custom fodder, so I can't complain about that one). But, SE '52 was a pretty solid figure: he had the new balljointed wrists, a cool new flak jacket-look, nice accessories (assault rifle, sword, scabbard, and especially the 2 MAC-10s he could hang from his belt) and a new version of Timber, who actually could move.

What do you guys say? Any other great ones hidden in the line?

Im gonna go with POC Beach head, I liked the figure at first but the webbing was a bit too much (much like how I feel about Lowlight) too big and bulky but once i took of BH's webbing he became on of my favorite joes in the squad!

I agree with you about that Snake Eyes, monstermonkey. I'll also add POC Zartan. Not as exciting a figure as some others in the line but I love the accessories, detailing, and desert-worn look they went with.

Good pick. That was an interesting reinterpretation of Zartan. I actually repurposed mine into a modern Raptor custom, a sucky character originally but with the right look and accessories he'd be ok. POC Zartan's inclusion of the additional head and jacket was a great idea for those who wanted another desert trooper, too.

POC Dusty. There's just something about the way they did the soft goods and the accessories were just right.

How about the Jungle Viper? That's a pretty cool fig. I realize most people wouldn't army-build this guy past maybe two figs, but I'm surprised he hung around on the shelves as much as he did. And Skydive's pretty cool too; he seemed to hang around the longest out of the four figs in his wave, regardless of case assortments. I also really like POC W3 Duke. His backpack gun may have been a little off, but the fig itself is pretty good.

Jungle Viper was pretty cool too, I was also surprised he pegwarmed for a while. I have 3, myself. The extra large sniper's rifle is a bit goofy, but the modular ghille suit/armor was cool.

I think the best thing about the POC figures was the custom fodder potential they all had. Most of the 25th/ME/ROC figures became the definitive modern updates for me (i.e.-Dusty, Beachhead, Zartan, etc.) so I repurposed many of the POC figures and accessories into other characters. I just made a new stand label for POC Dusty and made him Sokerk, one of the Argentina Joes, his masked head went to my Rampart custom, I repainted POC Beachhead to became Wreckage (a JvC era Tiger Force member, based on the vintage unreleased Sabertooth- both Firely repaints, basically), POC Zartan became Raptor, etc.

Yeah 25th/ME is my main collection. I keep my ROC, POC and 30th guys separate, unless they're updates of vintage figs that didn't come out during 25th/ME, like Rampage/Heavy Metal, Low-Light and Airtight.

I'd love to see Wreckage or Sabertooth in the sub. Sub Grunt is becoming my Sokerk, but I'm going to swap the head with the 25th one so he'll at least be different than Flash and Grand Slam.

I think the Renegades Law and Order is seriously under rated figure. There's just so many other cool things in that wave that he (they) are easy to overlook.
