    Addicted to Action Fleet X-Wings!

Hey guys I posted this on Sir Steves Guide a few days so thought I'd do the same here

*stands up* My name is Ben and I am addicted to AF X-Wings. There I said it!

I now have 5 overall, 2 of the newest Red 5's, an orginal Red 5 and 2 Red 2's(one battle damaged). It seems I also have a need to get as many pilots and R2's as well.

    Anyone else out like me?

If anyone has any figures or maybe a Red 3 or 6 that they don't need let me know : )

    Cheers,
    Ben

I was the one telling you about the silver Galactic Battle X-Wing on Sirstevesguide forum, but I rarely visit that board anymore. The Action Fleet ships brought me into serious Star Wars collecting, I was never interested in Hasbro action figures, but these small ships and vehicles with cool mini-figures and great features made me want to have them all. They are excellent for collecting and displaying but also being sturdy enough to play with them without any issues.

With Star Wars I only collect Imperials but even so I think I have a 99% complete Action Fleet collection (non-Imperials and Prequels included as well). I have a small display of my Action Fleet Imperials among my other stuff, you can see here: Sergiu/Jkno's Imperial Command Center 3 or here: Jkno collection November 2011 - YouTube (minute 3:25, minute 4:18 - the silver Galactic Battle Vader's TIE Fighter can be seen next to the 1:1 Vader bust - and minute 6:30). All my other Action Fleet and MicroMachines are boxed up.

Hi Ben and welcome to the forum. I'm a recovering AF fan myself.
You might want to check out the Sell/Trade thread in this section to see if anyone's got any AFs up for grabs.

Hey, Serg! It's always cool to see your collection.

    Thanks DD.

Ben, you'll have to understand that the real AF fans will never forgive Hasbro for canceling this line together with MM line. Many of the AF and MM collectors got into similar lines like Star Trek Innerspace or Strike Force, Xyber 9, WOTC, or Titaniums, others reoriented to other lines, and some even left the hobby completely right after the dismiss of these lines.

Thanks DD , I'll be sure to check that section out!

Sergiu, I wasn't happy about it either. I wasn't happy when Hasbro released new AF's without figures! Checked out your youtube vid by the way, awesome collection!

Thanks Ben. I still hope one day some company will pick up the AF line and make these ships, vehicles and playsets again, not just Star Wars, Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Starship Troopers and military but so many other movies and series. Just look at the AF prototypes in the following link: Action Fleet Prototypes pictures by starwarsdroids - Photobucket

Hey Ben, welcome to the forum, you'll feel right at home here!

I remember my first Action Fleet ship I picked up was an X-wing, Porkins to be exact. I remember seeing the figure, and not knowing who he was at the time, I was like "Why the hell is he so fat?" I fell in love with the AFs from there. They aren't too big, too small, they have some nice features and some cool mini-figs. As I grew older I had to be "that guy" and collect every variant haha. I limited myself though, I only collect from the Original Trilogy. Also, for example, there's a variant of the Gold Squadron Y-wing, with a taller cockpit window. Besides that, its the same exact ship and figures as the original, so for me, why waste the money? Give me the original any day. I'll usually go after different variants if they have different paint jobs and/or figures.

As you said in your previous post, I too did not take too well to Hasbro releasing AFs without figures, so I went on ebay and bought some extra figures. Without the figures they just feel naked lol.

Anyway enjoy your stay Ben. And remember, when collecting, don't feel like you have to get every single one. Limit yourself to the ones you want, be patient and in time your collection will grow.

Hi Goldleaderone thanks for the welcome! I've watched a few of your reviews on youtube before, good work!

You just listed all the reasons I love them too

Luckily I don't feel the need for every single variant, I just love X-Wings! I'll try to get a pic of my X's on here soon. Is there anyone out there you know that cold hook me up with some extra pilots?

Thanks Ben! Looking forward to seeing what you got.

Speaking of my youtube page, I should upload a video. Its been what, 9 months? I've lost interest in doing that I guess. I dunno. We'll see..

Ya take a few days vacation and you miss all the action on the AF front. haha

Hey Ben. Welcome to our little world of Galoobaphiles...or something like that. I'm a pretty hardcore AF-addict, and semi-crazy scale-modeler. I remember starting off with the micro machines, then moving to AF when I saw the first wave. I love the balance of size, accuracy, and playability. They may not have the features of Hasbro's lineup, but they never released a muscle-ridden Luke (at the time was the standard Hasbro figure style).

If you get a chance, please check out my website below. I've got photo archives and my own customs section (trying to fill in the gaps we are left with). If you are really an X-wing addict, you may want to eventually try customizing some of your own. I know Goldleaderone has a slew of custom X-wings with nearly everyone? at the Battle of Yavin.

For figures, your best bet is eBay (oh joy of joys). There are plenty of loose lots that, for X-wings and such, are usually on the cheaper end of AFs. Also, note that the figures created for the first wave easily came apart (the legs popped out). So keep an eye out for figures missing torsos or mismatched leggings. I believe it was the release of the Slave I and the gold logo boxes that Galoob changed the figures to be less prone to dismemberment.

    Cheers and again, welcome
