    Hey Ben. Welcome to our little world of Galoobaphiles...or something like that. I'm a pretty hardcore AF-addict, and semi-crazy scale-modeler. I remember starting off with the micro machines, then moving to AF when I saw the first wave. I love the balance of size, accuracy, and playability. They may not have the features of Hasbro's lineup, but they never released a muscle-ridden Luke (at the time was the standard Hasbro figure style).

    If you get a chance, please check out my website below. I've got photo archives and my own customs section (trying to fill in the gaps we are left with). If you are really an X-wing addict, you may want to eventually try customizing some of your own. I know Goldleaderone has a slew of custom X-wings with nearly everyone? at the Battle of Yavin.

    For figures, your best bet is eBay (oh joy of joys). There are plenty of loose lots that, for X-wings and such, are usually on the cheaper end of AFs. Also, note that the figures created for the first wave easily came apart (the legs popped out). So keep an eye out for figures missing torsos or mismatched leggings. I believe it was the release of the Slave I and the gold logo boxes that Galoob changed the figures to be less prone to dismemberment.

    Cheers and again, welcome
    Guys thanks for the brilliant welcome, really appreciate it

    Galoobaphiles = win

    Unreality, I've seen your website before it's fantastic! Funny you mention the figures legs, one of my pilots actually has Han Solo legs! I have thought about customising them before but I don't think I'd do a very goob job!

    Nice one, Ben. Have you checked out the Titanium Ultras? I really like their X-Wings. To me, they're a deluxe version of the AFs.

    I've only discovered them recently, never knew the Titanium line included AF's! The paint job on them is a little 'loud' for me though and wouldn't fit in with the rest of the X-Wings I have, especially as I'm going for a Battle of Yavin vibe

    I assume it's just the paint job that is different?

    They are actually new molds with some interesting features. The Falcon has a removable canopy and a removable hull section that you can see inside. Both the AT-AT and the Snowspeeder have removable panels to see the interior gears. The TIEs have thinner wings/look much more accurate. I'm not sure what the X-wing had.

    The Battle of Yavin definitely works for me, Ben. If you ever get the hankering for an AF Falcon to rescue Red 5's bacon, I urge you to check out the Ultra version first. I love its cockpit... it's really cool.

    The X-Wings are almost identical moulds/toolings but there are a few differences: the Ultra is largely metal, the paint is more detailed, there's a small Titanium Series emblem on the bottom, and R2 doesn't pop out. I prefer it over the AF but hey, "loudness" is ok by me.
    Here's a Red 3 comparison (Ultra on left) flying over Carpetooine:

    Thanks DD and Unreality, appreciate the descriptions and pic

    For me, nothing beats The Battle of Yavin. Absolutely brilliant.

    When my Red 6 comes I'll have six X-Wings. The big question is should I get more???

    I think the titanium version was like the hasbro version because the r2 unit didnt pop out either.
