    Mos Eisley Cantina Diorama

I had promised to post this here back when I joined , but I kept procrastinating.

I constructed this diorama over the summer of 2011, while I was off from school. It had been in the planning stages earlier in the year, and I wanted it to be finished before the new Ponda Baba and Dr. Evazan were released. (still waiting for Evazan thanks to the delay). I took a lot of inspiration from cantinas found on this forum, especially Diago-Bah's revised one.

Without further ado, here's the pics -

Wip of putting together the seats and tables, and some details for the walls and distillery

The fully assembled structure, made up of styrofoam and posterboard (sort of, I switched out the foam board under the floor with a sheet of MDF for sturdyness. I also added some foam board to the sides to cover up the tops of the arches.)

A shot of the finished diorama, without figures.

    The right side.

    The left.

And here it is with figures in place. I still have more figures to pick up or have to make to fill it up more.

There's more pics here - Mos Eisley Cantina Diorama Project - a set on Flickr

Thanks for looking, I hope you guys here like it.

That looks absolutely amazing. The lighting makes all the difference and really sets it apart from others I've seen. What did you use to make the flooring? It's awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! The flooring is two sheets of plastic that are used for counted cross stitch. You can find it at craft and fabric stores. I saw it used on previous cantinas, so I copied the idea for mine.

Very nice display piece. The lighting is perfect and really sets the mood. The detail you put into it is superb and you can tell you planned it well. It is well werth the wait.

Not only were you meticulous with the details of the Cantina, you also captured the right atmosphere with the lighting. Well done!
