Darth Maul 1:6 - Is he worth buying?

What is the quality and detail like on Darth Maul? Is he worth buying, or is it better to give him a miss? Also what would say is an reasonable amount to pay for him, and what wouldn't you pay?

Finally do you think Hot Toys will remake him as part of their Star Wars range?

Just received this figure from a fellow board member here on Saturday. He's a good figure and glad I picked him up. The SS body is ok might have to upgrade. The HS is nice and the custume is well made, his boots are a bit weak. Overall he's a solid figure and glad to add him to the Sith lineup.

On the very first page of this section there is the whole thread devoted to SSC Darth Maul, so that could really answer most of your questions there.

As for if HT will make Maul, no one really knows. So far the only figure we definitely know is coming is Bespin Luke, but others are surely on the way. It's certainly possible, but if I didn't have a 1/6th Maul already and was in the market for one, I wouldn't hold my breath for HT.

Sorry, I didn't think to look if there was an existing thread :s

So would you say £40 is quite a bargain for him?

What is that, like $65 US? That's basically the going rate for a new, unopened Maul. As I've mentioned before, I think he will spike alittle once the TPM 3-D hits, so I'd probably grab him sooner than later. But that's just an opinion.

    I am so gutted
Placed the order, said he was in stock, then got an e-mail saying "sorry but we can't fulfill your order"
Now I literally can't find one anywhere *big sigh*

I think Maul is one of the better figures they've made. It's one of the few early figures I've kept. He still looks great and he's loaded with accessories and options. Excellent likeness and head sculpt too.

As for Hot Toys, considering they've said they're only making one figure a year (for now), I wouldn't wait for it. I also expect them to be OT-centric for the time being based upon a comment or two I read but I might be reading too much into it.

Just keep looking and be patient. I've been thinking about getting a second one myself and have been seeing him pop-up on Ebay in some regularity. The edition size on Maul was huge, so he should be easy to get in time.

I think so. Just remember that the Diamond figure is 1/4th scale, so he won't work with SSC figures that are 1/6th. He might look ok next to some PFs, though.
