I myself am in the Northeast.

And back then Wal-Mart had just started opening stores in the area. But in addition to that we had TRU, KB Toys, Kmart, Bradlees, Caldors, Woolworths, & Service Merchandise all carrying the line and all at around the same price.

So yeah, HERE, there was plenty to go 'round.

I can imagine it would be like that in the Northeast, where the population is a lot more densely packed. There is a lot of empty desert in western Texas and New Mexico, so you can sometimes drive over a hundred miles without seeing any signs of civilization.

I currently live in southern-central Illinois, right smack dab in the middle of several farm towns. So again, we're pretty spread out and there's not a lot of stores to choose from. But I've lived here since 2006 and that has never seemed to be a problem until TVC started up in 2010.

In south florida there were always SOME figures in the stores, but i would also say there were ALWAYS 1 or 2 figs per wave that you would hardly ever see in a retail store. This was SPECIFICALLY due to scalpers, and toy collectors, and people who saw vintage SW toys worth hundreds in price guides like Tomarts and Lee's Action figure News.

First wave, couldnt find leia & c3po
    2nd wave, couldnt find fett
    the EU figures were easy
Collection 3 (bad guy) Freeze Frame figures were tough. Certain cases were shipped in much lower numbers, especally the one with Tie Pilot, Garindan, Fett, Sandtrooper, and the impossible Weequay.
And of course the big deal back then was variations. Short saber, long saber, short saber in long saber tray, Full picture ObiWan, Half picture Obi, .00 card .01 card, .02 Card, etc.

It was all about the POTF2 for me. I must have been 10 when the line first began, and I grew up on those. That's how I started collecting. I was always a neat kid--kept them in great shape, saved the cardbacks and bubbles and all. But of course, as much as I loved to go find them in stores, I couldn't buy too many. After POTF2, I kind of stopped and my collection sat in a box for a while.

It wasn't until years later that POTF2 brought me back. Eventually (after a lot of hunting!) I completed my collection. I now have all POTF2 figures carded, some variants, and of course, the loose figures from my childhood, and I believe I have most if not all of the vehicles as well. It's all displayed prominently in my collection room (even though most wouldn't give much prominence to POTF2).

Since, I have moved on to collect updated figures from the collections that have risen since POTF2, including the modern Vintage (talk about an oxymoron, huh?). But with very few exceptions, my entire collection remains OT. It's what I grew up on! (Disclaimer: That doesn't mean I don't love the prequels/The Clone Wars. I just have to draw the line somewhere or I'll go broke!)
"Listen to them... children of the night! What music they make!"

The only thing I miss about POTF2 is the prices. :p

Are you very mechanical? Well, I was just wondering if you could tell me where this goes? See I wasn’t really online when they were programming us for logic repairs. Usually I can figure it out but these old R5′s are kinda built backwards, know what I mean? Heh! No, you don’t know what I mean…

I for one definitely miss the POTF2 days. I was 8 (1996) when I started buying them. Our Walmart had just opened too and I remember my mom buying me at least one POTF2 figure. I had a hard time deciding because there was so much to choose from. It was exciting. Today, I see the same toys in stores for months. A Walmart in KY had 15 General Lando figures

Greetings! I can't post a new thread for some reason, but this thread kind of matches my question...sort of... I am donating a substantial amount of POTF2 stuff through early TPM (before the movie came out). Anyway, the tax code wants me to use the original price paid to value the donation, but besides 3 3/4" figures, I can't remember what anything cost. It's a huge variety of stuff: 12" figures, vehicles, "exclusives", and tons of misc. stuff like weapons, complete galaxy, playsets, etc. Is there a list somewhere of the original MSRPs for these items? Thanks!

I don't know about the 12" figures, but you can find retail prices of 3 3/4", playsets, vehicles and so in the Photo Archive section of Rebelscum.
