Now that's a good looking Vader.
Now that's a good looking Vader.
Wish List: Klaatu (Skiff Outfit), Vedain, Velken, Barada, Yotts Orren, Vizam, Weequay (sail barge), Sgt Doallyn, Ree Yees, Saelt-Marae, Tessek, Fozec, Snaggletooth, Lobot.
I still have that ROTS Vader carded.. maybe I should open him up & use that lightsaber.

The only reason I won't renege on my statement is that an Evergrey custom sets a pretty high bar for Hasbro's mass market production.
Though your notes do hold up. The only thing.... the helmet. How far off is it (in your opinion)? For my eyes it looks fine, but again, my eye might not be as detail-oriented as it should be.

Kind of you - thanks... I did mean no offense. The problem with most
*not quite accurate* sculpts coming from Hasbro I think is because of
some of their sculptors just not beeing real Star Wars nuts.
They get refference Material and do a great job sculpting what they see
on those pictures, but they're not into the whole universe - they miss the
characters, what they're about, and quite some details that are simply
overlooked by the *mass*.
You need to be a real fan and to be interested in these things to deliver
a good product. What I mean is that you could hire the worlds best fashion
designer to create an exciting sportscar, but since he's interested in clothes
and not cars the result will not be as good as if you contracted a designer
for cars ... ok ... not quite the same ... sigh ... don't know how to explain
it properly.
Oh, I don't know where to begin ...
let's start with the nose - it's too small, too slim and it's supposed to be rounded inside.
On the real DV Helmet the silver nose part is an imprint of Brian Muirs (the DV Helmet sculptor) thumb.
The eyes appear too round (bug-like) and seem to *stick out* too far.
The whole face is too *flat* (once again!) ... it needs to be a bit *longer*
and sleeker - the original mask was sculpted onto a cast of Dave Prowses face.
The tear groves under the eyes appear to be missing (again!) - a feature
that Hasbro curiously has put on the new *lightning* Vader.
The Dome has some shape flaws, and the *Widows peak* isn't pronounced
enough. The widows peak is that little pointy end-piece of the stripe that
goes over Vaders Helmet - only on ANH it was *pointy* - for ESB and ROTJ
they had sanded that feature flat for a softer *Brow-line*.
The original ANH Helmet is really wonky and asymetrical, and naturally so is
the mouth triangle - but Hasbro manages it with every Vader figure to let the
mouth *curve* to the wrong side, wich looks like a mirrored image then.
I just want to say it again - this new ANH Vader looks great !!! ...
But from the view of a nerdy detail-nut like me it's just not *perfect* ...

This is a really nice figure. I'm actually excited about it now after seeing the pic.
Most wanted figures: Admiral Piett
Yeah, he's not perfect, but it looks pretty darn good overall. Like that he's taller than the previous Vaders.
Kinda dig the sculpt, this may be the ANH Vader for my collection.
Evergrey is correct, there are some glaring mistakes, still I'm really excited about this. A new Vader that is actually cool & on a vintage card.
I'll not complain, (although improvements could be made, but such is life).
MTFBWY
Me likey. He does seem bigger and more foreboding this time around. Looks like it could be the best yet. Even though I'm one of the freaks who enjoys the removable helmet feature. I'll manage.
