Sure, but how big of a cut does he get off the item? He seems to vulture in on the needy or greedy people.

I will tell you exactly, since I have bought from him. There is a buyer's premium of 20%. That's what Joe/PIH takes from each item sold. What you also don't see is how much is not sold. A fair amount goes without a bid, especially all of the COPIOUS Star Trek stuff. Paramount has opened its vaults to PIH for years and there is just so much from TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, etc. etc. that most never sells. You could, if you wanted, buy any number of phasers from any number of ST movies or shows for next to nothing.

20% and the buyer pays it, not the seller. So if you $100,000, you're really paying $120,000

That doesn't seem right. I've never heard of a buyer paying the fees. That usually falls on the seller. I could be wrong. I've never bought at an auction house

I'm almost positive the fees come out of the sellers "profits"....

Trust me. I have bought from Joe before in auction and the buyers premium is right there in black and white as well in any of the catalogues. It does add to the total cost of an item, of course. What I do NOT know is if there is a seller's premium as well. If there is, it is likely FAR less than the buyer's end. That's how it is with these big ticket items in auction.

Lots of high-end auctions have Buyer's Premium. The local and smaller auctions usually taken from the seller's pull

Anyone see the Yoda stand-in puppet this week? It was made to be used for blocking and rehersals. Kind of strange looking compared to what we know.
