Ponda Baba - VC70

If we get the good doctor updated, we certainly should have his chief enforcer right? Interestingly enough the list that I received listed him as Walrus Man (Ponda Baba) - so I wonder if this could be one of those pseudo-vintage-in-the-basic-line releases?

Reminder this is a LONGER term rumor list that I'm receiving, so much is subject to change. Given that we've got pretty good confirmation of the first four waves for 2009, this one will be next summer or fall at the earliest! And of course, nothing is official until Hasbro says so.

if these do signal a return to the vintage style card w/o bubble then I couldn't be happier...

I can't stand the Legacy packaging and can't wait for it to change.

Ponda would be a great addition with all the other cantina folk, but if they do go back to a vintage syle cardback...what it going to be on the back of the card??? are they still going to have the write up about the original?

I'm with you on the Legacy packaging. Just the fact that he was listed as 'Walrus Man' gives me hope! Please be on a vintage card. I'm ready to start buying figures again...

it makes it easier to swallow being an open collector because at the end of the day, I can recycle the cardback if I hate it...I feel for those who are carded collectors...hopefully the Vintage cardbacks come sooner for those of you who care

Ponda is DEFINITELY worthy of an update. He's simply far too important a character for the hopelessly dated versions we have of him now. . . I'd love to see an out of the box approach here as well and have "both" versions of the hands offered. Those bizarre cup like hands are just so strange and cool. C'mon Hasbro! Go for it! Pack two different sets of hands so fans can recreate continuity errors on their own.

This is my most anticipated Cantina alien - the previous version of this character do not hold up well compared to today's sculpting. I hope they do the same level of quality with this one as they did with vintage Greedo.

I agree with all of you on the legacy packaging: absolutely godawful

I'm so hanging for this guy to get made properly. I'm not partial to the flipper hands accessory idea, but hey - if they do include them I won't complain. They can throw in a set of steak knives for all I care - just get him RIGHT Hasbro, that's all I ask.
