Toybiz - Lord of the Rings Action Figures

I am a regular poster in the vintage star wars section of this forum but I have a fairly large collection of Lord of the Rings action figures I am looking to sell. I didn't know where the best place to post this was so I am posting this here. My main question is would there be any interest in these. Also what could I expect to get for them. I have about 30 of them a couple of trolls and a fell beast.
    Thanks

There's not a huge market for this stuff these days, though you would think it would heat up in the next couple of years with The Hobbit movie on the horizon.

I've seen everything from loose, missing an accessory figs for $2-$3, to over $100 for the rare mail-away Burger King Uruk Hai.

There are some that go for a bit more than others, but I don't know which are which. There used to be a great website reference for these, http://www.thegd.com/ but it was shut down a couple months ago, and it appears that all of those resources are gone.

So generally speaking, it seems that loose, complete figs go for a little under their original retail (which was around 7 bucks IIRC) to a little over retail carded. Ebay seems to be packed with a lot of over priced carded stuff that doesn't sell.

I'd be interested to see what you've got, and what you might want for them. I've got about 20 myself from back in the day and though most are pre-posed and stuck with lame action figures, I do like 'em.
    I'm friendly dammit!

Well since atleast someone might be remotely interested in them I will list them in the classifieds. Since I have to put a price with them it might seems a little high(just a warning a head of time) but I will be more than willing to accept reasonable offers. I will get them listed tonight.

I can only wish this, but if Hasbro were to pick up the line and make it 3 3/4 inch scale, I'd start collecting those like crazy, especially since SW is so expensive right now.

But I can only dream...just imagine having all of those Isengard Uruk-Hai, Rohan Soldiers, and the Gondor Soldiers in 3 3/4 scale...I'd love it.

Doesn't seem to be much activity in this thread though I could see that changing in 2012 ( ).

I'm posting some of these figures in my sales thread and thought I'd check in on how things were going in this forum ( ). They're for sale or for trade.

this winter i sold a HUGE chunk of my collection, i had soooooo many of thesr figures and i sold them. of course i now feel bad i sold them, at least some of them. i even had the neca balrog! but i kept alot of the "essentials", however i now notice i should not have sold some of them, especially orc figures as i now have NONE. i also wish i kept at least one of the 3 troll figures. ah, the regrets! but i still like my little collection, i just put them back on display. i guess the excitment of getting LOTR's EE's on bluray has got brought back my Rings excitement, not to mention the hobbit next year.

honestly, my hype for the hobbit all that huge. i just dont think the hobbit will be ANYWHERE near as good as jacksons LOTR's but i still reckon it will be fun, as long as it still feels like the other films and doesnt go CGI overload like jackson has been doing since king kong.

These were great looking figures that I wisely just admired when I saw them at the store. As cool as they were, I had to resist collecting and starting another plastic crack addiction (at the time they were out, I was already mainlining SW, Simpsons, Marvel Legends, Movie Maniacs, etc.).

I still have my near complete collection MIMB and it's getting really hard to not part with it as it takes up a lot of space & I could use the cash. But some of the figures are the best figures I have ever seen! Epic tooling on the molds.

yeah they used real likeness of the actors by scanning there faces and outfits and they were able to get them as accurate as possible, which is till find amazing. defiently my favorite movie toy line EVER.

in fact, i literally just purchased that extremly-rare "super articulated" gandalf the grey. i checked ebay for it and man, there was only ONE of him and was located in china, so i wound up paying like $60 bucks for it. UUGH. but i REALLY wanted that gandalf. like star wars, i only get what i consider to be the bare essential figures. i sold a huge bulk of my SW and LOTR's figures this past year and now i only want the figures i deem to be the most important, and this is certainly one of them. i have most of the fellowship, SP aragorn, SP boromir, SP sam and frodo, SP legolas and of course gimili, but i still need GTG and the fellowship versions of merry and pippin. now that GTG is covered, marry and pippin are next and then i finally have the fellowship of the ring.

in fact, speaking of those figures, here is a very funny outtake where viggo brings this up, its really hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5OpTIX5jyw

Nice score. Of the few LOTR figures that I have, one of them is that Gandalf.
