I'm not sure if you e-mail or called, but it's always better to call. UPS smashed my Fett, and GG was quick with a replacement.

I received Luke yesterday. Ordered from Amazon because I had a $50 coupon. Nice figure overall. The eye paint is a bit too black, and somehow one of the eyes got a tiny bit of paint on the lower eyelid. Not a dealbreaker, but enough to notice. The head was turned to the side, which bothered me so much I opened the package, fixed the head, and resealed it. I'm happy with it overall.

Thanks! I just went to Amazon and ordered another one for a nice price as well. This, in my opinion, is pretty much THE iconic Star Wars figure, so I wanted to get another one as an opener.

From the looks of it, R2 and C-3PO look like second purchase opener candidates as well.

Agreed on the iconic status of Luke. After all, this is the figure that inspired the 3 3/4" standard, isn't it?

Funny that you bring that up. Steve Sansweet and I were talking about this same subject last weekend.

While there may have been others that came before them (I remember these guys called Metal Men), Fisher-Price was the first to hit the market with an extensive line of 3 3/4" figures called Adventure People in 1975. While there's that story about the Kenner exec creating this scale by holding his thumb ad forefinger apart to give the scale he wanted Luke to be, Fisher-Price came first.

In fact, Kenner created the Early Star Wars figure mock ups using Adventure People:

Wouldn't you like to get your hands on the mock ups? I am sure they are in someone's collection somewhere.

Yeah, that whole display makes my heart skip a beat - BIG time.

Notice how they crammed the Jawa and the Sand People in there after the fact. I guess this proves the Death Squad Commander was the last to be added in the magical "first 12." Well, that or he was the last mock up to be made.

Am I the only one who wishes GG would have released a brown haired variant? We got the big and small head versions of Han, and the cloth and vinyl caped Jawa... so I wish we could get a brown haired Luke too. I always preferred that version over the bleach blonde Luke....

I'm not sure those Adventure People mock-ups are in collector hands. I know that photo was from a binder that belonged to Jim Swearingen, the principal conceptual designer at Kenner for the Star Wars line.
I think if they still existed and somebody had them, they wouldn't have been able to resist a major limelighting thread. Who knows?

The Luke figure made an appearance on this evening's "Modern Family" episode. LOL!
