I guess to break up the monotony of having the same pairings over and over. The Mace/Anakin combo is weird, though. They're too casual and friendly with each other. They're actually BANTERING in this episode, when the movies show that Mace and Anakin clearly don't see eye to eye. It's very weird to see, especially when in a few years time they're at best stiff and formal around one another, and at worst completely distrusting of each other.

Another thing I want to say... and I really hate to say it, but Daniel Logan's a mediocre actor.
Honestly I think Palpatine, as in the movies, is the reason for Mace's distrust of Anakin. It's clear that the two (Palps and Ani) of them are close by this time in this episode, and while Mace and Anakin do banter a bit and such, they still had varying opinions on the Zillo Beast. However, I could see the start of Mace's distrust based on the fact that Palpatine as Palpatine, not Sidious, was downright evil in this episode. Not traditional evil mind you, but still he was not the benign politician we've seen him play. It really all can help play as to the council's distrust of senators in ROTS.

Great episode – one of my favourites, and had some great moments:

It was cool to see heaps of ‘young’ clones running around and loved how they each had a different tone of voice. It was cool that they were on a ‘field trip’ though . Boba was really well portrayed and I think all of the ‘purists’ might not have much of an argument for him not being ‘tough enough’, and I think it really adds to the character.

I actually really liked the Admiral and he really reminded me of a Sean Connery type character. And of cause it was cool to see they used the name Killian, since that name is of cause is from (and famous in) a country which his accent has close relation too (Killian originates in Ireland I believe, while his accent is Scottish). Loved how he decided to ‘go down with the ship’, and stand on the bridge. His calling of the ship as ‘her’ also really put him in connection with it. Just one thing I picked up though – doesn’t he say “a admiral should go down with her ship’ instead of ‘his’ . Anyway all up good to finally see a new Admiral in the series.

Loved the constant ‘all is lost - she’s gonna sink’ feeling with the Admiral trying evacuate the ship and everything. The shots of crippled Destroyer where also cool. One thing though – why didn’t the reactors in Cloke of Darkness cripple the ship like these ones did ?

The constant ‘Death bell’ during this episode really emphasized that this whole episode was a very serious one. Basically not only showing that someone had died, but given that it appeared in every moment Boba did something evil, really showed that Boba was becoming more and more evil (essentially dying as a human being). Loved seeing the ‘Stun’ on a weapon used again (I believe it’s the first time since ANH).

The final scene with Boba was definitely the most powerful and moving of the series. The music was the best we have seen with the vocals which make up some of the great Star Wars themes and I think is now the ‘Boba morality scene’. It really showed his morality, and really adds a lot when you see him in ESB and ROTJ. The fact that he was essentially leaving his brothers to die slowly and painfully in an escape pod was really moving. Another scene which had the same music was the scene where he stunned the trooper, which was another great scene. Sing was really well done, and came across as really cold blooded. I hope Boba gets rid of her somehow though – whether it be in this series or the Live Action series.

Liked Mace’s ship, however does Anakin have a new canopy design – I don’t remember him having a yellow tint ? Also did anyone else notice that we are finally hearing ROTS Jedi Starfighter noises. I don’t believe they have been so prominent until now.

Loved this episode. Very good work. One thing I loved was the use of music, really effective. And this is one area I really think TCW needs to improve. Awesome

ROTS Jedi Starfighter noises have been since the beginning of the series for both the AOTC Jedi Starfighter and obviously the ROTS Starfighters.

What really stood out for me in this episode was Boba's code of honor, even at this age he doesn't want to kill anyone he doesn't have to. First protesting he doesn't want to kill anyone other then Mace Windu. He could of easily killed that clone in the reactor but instead switched to stun. He had no quarrel with that clone or any of the crew.

Aurra Sing is definitely taking advantage of Boba because he's so young.

I'm really interested to see what Aurra's game plan is - presuming that her origin from the comics is disregarded (To demarcate her from Ventress, whose story is similar), than she's getting awfully personal about bringing up Boba in his father's footsteps. She's a mercenary - she's got something to gain from this, but what? That'll have to wait for subsequent episodes.

The other highlight of "Death Trap" was the first-hand look at the Endurance's operation, which referenced the original trilogy's designs (Tantive IV and Death Star hallways, the quad cannons from the Millenium Falcon...) so much that it really seemed to mesh with classic canon. I enjoyed.

This episode has me very excited! I found it kind of dumb how that clone trooper actually let Boba take his gun, though. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.

Re: The Clone Wars: S02: EP20 - Death Trap

Anyone else wonder why the heck Anakin was even in the episode? He seemed like an unecessary character to me, plus, in-universe-wise, I never really understood why he was there with Mace in the first place? As Blackrook noted above, his manner with mace was far to familiar and jarred with the way they're played in ROTS, when it seemed like they barely knew eachother. Odd to have him there and I personally wouldn't have missed him if they'd left him out of the episode altogether.

That said, it was an enjoyable ep and I look forward to seeing what happens next. It looks like Bossk is going to capture the crash survivors from the preview.

I think Obi-Wan would've made more sense in the episode, if Mace absolutely needed a buddy along. We at least know they get along pretty well.

Well I don’t know about this series, however if they stay true to the novel series where the Boba/Sing duo originates from – Star Wars: Boba Fett – then it has already been explained in those books. I can’t remember her exact motivation – been a while since I read them – however I think it has something to do with getting the money Jango left Boba. Apparently, given that he was the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, he had a substantial wad of cash located on the ‘Banking Clan Bank’ which was explored in the novels. I may be wrong though, but it was definitely explored in that series so read up on them on Wookiepedia.
