    Adios, Satipo

Here's my version of Satipo. He is made from - Cemetary Warrior legs, arms and shirt, Gal. Marine head, Mutt chest. The backpack is a small wooden basket with a scratch built wooden rack and rope. The pots, pans, cup, etc. were taken from various figures including Chap mei and Marion. Also includes Short Round and Sallah's torches with the flames removed. This is dedicated to Dr. Bergsan and Phillip Scott who have raised the bar for Indy customs and pushed me to do better.

JK - that is an excellently executed custom my man. The Cemetary Warrior and Training Clone figures were a perfect selection for the base, and your scratch-built additions show that you've attained a real level of skill. I'm totally stealing this recipe - and I hope you take that as a compliment

    Re: Adios, Satipo

It *always* bugged me how Harrison Ford pronounced the name 'Sapito' yet the credits and all the spinoff material gave it as 'Satipo'. I also remember back in the day, friends of mine believed the line to be "Adios, amigo." I would try to explain that the name was Satipo, mispronounced as Sapito, but noone seemed to care.

Then there was the time that I got angry at a local radio trivia contest for a Raiders question. They asked how tall was the Staff of Ra, and the caller said 72 inches, and they told him that was correct and he'd won.

I called and argued with the deejay, off the air, reiterating the "6 kadam high, plus *take back one kadam*" dialogue from just moments later in the scene.

[If it's only 5 kadam, that's more like 60 inches-- and even then the movie calculations are obviously wrong, since a 5 foot pole would never be taller than Harrison Ford, as real-life archeologist David West Reynolds later pointed out to me, along with the real approximation of a kadam in inches, which I want to say was more like 18.5", though I don't have my notes to hand.]

Anyway, the deejay still didn't get it, even after I offered to play the film dialogue, which I'd cued up before I called. Exasperated with his thickheadedness, finally I exclaimed, "You're making the same mistake the Nazis did!"

Just to shut me up and get me off the phone, he told me I could have a prize (free sandwich at Chick-Fil-A, same as all the other callers got), but what I really wanted was an on-air retraction, just for the sake of accuracy. I mean, if you want to run a trivia contest and reward people for useless knowledge, at least double-check your so-called facts. Sigh, no such luck on the admission of errata.

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. Isn't it amazing the 20-year-old memories that a well-crafted action figure of Alfred Molina can evoke?

This is a great recipe, I only wish I'd seen it before all the Cemetery Warriors disappeared around here. Excellent work. Can you make him bend at the knees, so he can kneel and rub his fingertips together in greedy anticipation when Indy goes after the fertility idol?

Funny, I always thought Indy said "Adios stupido", but it is "Sapito". Nice looking Satipo there, looks great with the tattered clothes. Gonna make a pinned down version as well?

One thing I noticed: is his right hand thumb missing?

Thanks guys. He can kneel, and the backpack is easily removed. His right thumb is there, just bent back. I noticed watching the movie that when he is first seen he doesn't have the backpack. The he suddenly has it. The explanation is that he picked it up when the natives ran away. If you watch closely, none of the natives have that backpack either. I have his partner in the works also.

Looks great! Really an outstanding job. I am wondering though, was there an Alfred molina head ever released in this scale for like a Spiderman line or something?

Not in this scale, no. That would be nice though.

Doc Ock from Spiderman 2 is the same actor, do they make an action figure of that character?
