The above was written in January '09.....

Maybe I should toss together a R2D2 timeline, much like my infamous Wampa timeline.
Wiat Beek, I am confused. Is that when the last time VS posted or the timeline for this statue?

If that's the case, then I will be very happy. There were non-production issues here not related to tooling. I guess they got those ironed out which is good, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Well it's been almost two years since I posted this and no R2 statue. Is anyone still buying the BSline that this is due to tooling? You can retool a freakin' car in almost the amount of time they've had this in development (pre C4 by the way, it was shown there). I stand by my statement that this is a non tooling issue. GG either doesn't want to make it or isn't being allowed to. Either way, there's no doubt in my mind the SSC Premium Format figure will likely satiate demand for this. I'm looking forward to giving them my money on that.

Yeah at the point Sideshow's PF will be the hottest selling R2 unit and this one if even released won't stand a chance.

If SS get their one out first then thats where my money is going. Waited long enough for this, its becoming a joke. Don't worry about the little gadgets, just get the statue out - though don't think its a re-tooling problem thats holding this up - its something else.

Here lately, sideshow has really got my attention simply because GG is just so CONSTANTLY lacking. For the first time in almost 9 years of GG collecting, I'm considering scaling WAY back and jumping to the sideshow boat.

I preordered my first SS piece (Sidious legendary scale bust) a few weeks ago and their upcoming "EUish" maquette line has me REALLY interested.

What does GG have? A horribly delayed product that probably won't look like it originally did when it first appeared?

anyone looking for an excellent r2 statue should also consider attakus (1/5 scale). the price has gone down significantly these days.

I've decided to just wait for the Sideshow PFs of the droids, but Attakus is very underrated in general.

While I'm sure Sideshows R2-D2 will be awesome, the price point will ultimately make me wait for GG's.

At this point, I'm gonna hold out for Sideshow's PF droids also.

Same here. I think all the gizmo's and gadgets for R2 turned out to be a production nightmare for GG.
