Thread: Vintage Rebel Sand Speeder

    Vintage Rebel Sand Speeder

How cool would this have been? Clearly recycled, but it looks pretty good.

This was part of the famous Kenner binder presentation that showcased what would have been in 1985-86 if the line had continued. It would've finally given me something to battle with the AST-5

It's a shame that the mock-up in this photo has never surfaced. (or has it?)

I like that they put in the effort to reconfigure the cannons and give it new fins. Perhaps some day we'll see this released in the modern line as a repaint of their new Snowspeeder. The Titanium ship from a few years ago is the closest approximation we have for now.

Nice, I hadn't seen that before either. Any vintage customizers care to tackle this?

    Bodhi,

I noticed you mentioned not having seen this before, so be sure to check out the following SWCA article that has this Sandspeeder and much much more!

Can you imagine if Kenner had made this toy?

It could have been the Star Wars equivalent to the USS Flagg aircraft carrier from GI Joe.

I would've preferred a Sail Barge as a Flagg equivalent, but that is pretty sweet as well

Some of the stuff listed looks like it had a lot of potential. Some things, however, looked like they were grasping at straws. The "Imperial Attack Droids" are just plain awful!

The Millenium Falcon Cargo Handler did kind of come to fruition, many years later, as a seperate vehicle that plugs into the front of Hasbro's Big Millenium Falcon from 2008.
