Thanks for your advice, Greg, and I'm sorry to hear the notification system has failed you too, Alexis. My problem has actually got WORSE: I didn't get notifications of your two posts, above. I only saw them because I was looking to see if I had any PMs - so I'm now not receiving any notifications at all!

By the way, Greg, I did check all my settings, and they're all as they always have been. They're all correct.

Hopefully someone will fix the problem soon.

    Cheers.

You aren't alone, my last email notification was on the 12th. It seems the system has been down for about a week.

Gerald Home: Episode September - RETURN TO THE MIDWEST

I'm thrilled to tell you guys in the US that I'll be back there in September to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars.

I'll be at TRI-CON in Evansville, Indiana, September 8-10. It'll be my first event in the Midwest for many years so I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to get autographs and photographs - or even just to come and say hello, and hear me talk about the stuff which I can't write about here!

    The website: http://www.tri-con.net/

    The Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/triconevans...type=3&theater

Hope to see lots of you there.

I've had several PMs and emails already this week, so this is a quick note to tell you that I'm leaving for Spain now and will be gone for nearly a week. I'm not taking my laptop or phone with me (yippee, a week without technology!) but someone will be checking my messages every day and telling me about them. Here's the final guest list - notice Angus M is listed as a Vikings guest, not a Star Wars guest:

By the way, Spain is one of those (hot) countries where my Mon Cal is more popular than Tessek-Squid Head, so I've had to pack more MCO photos than usual.

    Have a good week!

My name is Jesús, I was in Gijón the last weekend and it was a pleasure to meet you. I was one of the 501st Legion Stormtroopers who had a conversation with you on Sunday morning, you were very charming and talkative with all the fans and this will be remembered always.

I am here searching for this thread that you told me about ROTJ creatures and it really have very rare photos about this theme.

Thank you again for all Gerald.

    Big hugs from Galicia (Spain)!

Hello Jesús, and welcome to this thread! It's great to see you here. Thank you for finding the thread and for joining the forum.

The event in Gijón last weekend was fantastic, the biggest event I've ever been to in Spain, and I loved every minute of it. As I've said many times before, the Spanish people are warm and down-to-earth - and they like to give hugs, which is good, because I like to get hugs!

There were hundreds of 501st Spanish Garrison members there, and I met many of them and gave many my Honorary Member trading card. Here are just a few of the hundreds of 501st and other costumers - the green balloon you see in the photo is one of several Star Wars balloons I took with me to the event:

And here are 2 of the wonderful, very special Troopers who were wearing Scottish kilts, which is something I've never seen before!

And here I am with my good friend - and Luke Skywalker's best friend - Biggs Darklighter himself, Garrick Hagon:

Once again, welcome Jesús, and thanks for your kind words. A GALACTIC hug to you in Galicia from me here in Wimbledon!

BIG NEWS: The Calamari Men will soon be travelling to a new galaxy! Well, not exactly a new galaxy, but a new country for me. Here's a clue as to where it is: Does anyone know how to say "May the Force be with you!" in Greek and Turkish?!

Yep, I'm very, very, very happy to tell you that in early September, I'll be going to Cyprus Comic Con in Nicosia. They've only had one Star Wars actor guest before - Julian Glover, last year - so I feel it's a huge honour for me, and I'll work very hard to make sure I share all I know about Star Wars with Cypriot fans. Here's the beautiful flyer they made to publicize my appearance:

And here's the wonderful biography they wrote about me - notice they even provided a link to this thread! Maybe you'll find some information here which you don't already know:

    http://cypruscomiccon.org/special-guest-gerald-home/

I have made a greeting video for them which includes new film of my little collection of Star Wars treasures, which has had some new items added recently. I'll let you know when that video is online.

I wonder if I'll meet any (Rebel)scummers in Cyprus? I hope so!

    Hello Mr. Home,

As most people that are contributing to this thread i'm very interested in all the actors, mime artists, puppeteers and extras behind the masks of all these fantastic creatures... from ANH to ROTJ. So i was very happy when i recently found this forum and especially this fantastic thread with you sharing so much valuable information! Thank you very much! I hope to meet you personally the next time you are in Germany.

Ok, back to topic. Last weekend i attended the Power of the Force Con in Oberhausen (Germany) and had the chance to talk to a LOT of people from the OT. All of them were very kind and happy to answer my questions or to just have a nice conversation about their work. I used this chance to bring up a couple of questions that have been discussed in this thread regarding the Mon Cals, the Gamorrean Guards and other creatures from ROTJ. I gained some new info that might be interesting for you but i have also heard things that bring up new questions and are more confusing than helpful...

The most intersting talk was with Hugh Spight, who is really a very kind and funny guy. I asked him about his role as a Gamorrean Guard. I showed him a lot of stills and screen captures and asked him if he remembers which of the GGs is him. Unfortunately he hardly remembers. There are just two scenes where he said he is 100% sure it's him. In one scene he is with R2 in Jabbas Droid torture chamber and in the other scene he has his hands on Han Solos shoulders pushing him forward to Jabba.
The strange thing is that Paul Springer is (or was) also saying he was the one GG pushing Harrison Ford forward to Jabba. (MrT's post #72 on page 8)

Hugh also said that he probably is the GG who is having his hands on his belt in many shots because he played the GG in a kind of John Wayne style. As we all know already one of the other GGs is Simon, so i have asked Hugh about the third one in Jabbas palace which you identified as Barry Robertson in this thread. Sadly Hugh has never heard this name before. He doesn't remember who the third GG was but he thinks that Swee Lim, who he and Simon worked with in Dark Crystal, could have been a GG as well, at least in one shot. This could fit to what you've said on page 4 post #35, that a puppeteer jumped into one of the GG costumes during one scene. And Swee was defintely on the set as a puppeteer for Hoover. Too bad we can't ask Swee anymore since he disappeared many many years ago.

However, i think Hugh just can't remember Barry, because he was an extra and we have learned through you that there wasn't much interaction between extras and actors/mime artists/puppeteers. I have also heard that the GG that is falling down to the Rancor pit was a stuntman in the GG costume. But i haven't found any name yet. Maybe you know more?

Hugh also claims that he was Tanus Spijek (the Elom), a Mon Cal and a Prune face. I'm a bit confused about the statement that he was Tanus (he called him just Elom), at least in some shots, because i think he can't be Tanus in Jabbas palace because it's Graeme Hattrick under the mask as we all know. So maybe he is referring to the scenes inside the sail barge. But i guess you would remember if this would be the case. I don't remember any other scene with Tanus, so this is giving me headaches...

Regarding his appearance as a Mon Cal he and his manager said, that Hugh can just be seen for maybe 2 seconds in one shot on the bridge talking with Ackbar and he is wearing a white helmet! So this would perfectly fit to the scene Hernalt described on post #501 and the image you've posted in post #504 on page 51.

Now to Prune Face. As we know there are three of them sitting next to each other during the briefing scene. Hugh's Manager (i think his name was Julian) said they found out who the other two Prune Faces are and one of them was claiming he is the right one and the other claimed he is the the left one in this scene. So Hugh has to be the one in the middle (Hugh wasn't able to remember this btw. He just remembers wearing this costume). Hugh said he is the one with the eye patch (but this would be Orrimaarko) and was also offering the photo on his desk. The problem is, and i guess neither him nor his manager noticed this, the Prune Face in the middle is not the one with the eye patch! The screen cap they were referring to and which was availabe as a photo on his desk as well was really dark. So you can hardly see the faces of the three. I've scanned the image at home to enhance the brightness and contrast and it reveals that the one in the middle has no eye patch. So i believe him that he is the one in the middle but he definitely signs the wrong photo then, because Orrimaarko was played by Colin Hunt as far as i know.

I also had the chance to talk with Mike Edmonds, Dave Barclay and Femi Taylor but unfortunately they don't remember any more than we already know.

    so far..

    Cheers, Thorsten

Hello, and welcome to this thread, Thorsten.

What a fantastic post you've left. You've been doing good detective work!

Unfortunately, I can't add anything new to what you've written, but I would like to clarify something, concerning what you wrote about Barry Robertson...

I didn't ever say that Barry Robertson was a GG in Jabba's Palace! I have no idea if he was in Jabba's Palace. What I said was - it's him in this photo:

I'm not surprised Hugh had never heard Barry's name before. I had never heard it either, until I started doing conventions and fans told me it was Barry in this photo, which Barry himself confirmed to me when I spoke to him on the phone (which I've written about before.)

I don't know who/which GG fell into the Rancor Pit, but as it's a difficult stunt, I'm sure it must have been a stuntman.

You don't mention Tony Starr. I've seen GG photos signed by him - but please don't ask me anything about him! I never met him and know nothing about him. I just Googled him though, and think he has been mentioned elsewhere on the Rebelscum forums.

I won't comment on what you wrote about specific people playing specific parts, other than to repeat what I wrote here before: when Hugh came along, fans told me he said he was a Mon Cal in the Briefing Room, then, later, Julian (the agent, who I know and have worked with) told me Hugh remembered he was not a Mon Cal in the Briefing Room, but a different character. Now you say he was on the Bridge, in the silver hat, in the first Mon Cal scene? That's news to me! I don't remember him being on the Bridge, but that doesn't mean he wasn't there.

    Keep up the detective work!

Thank you for your feedback Gerald!

I did some more detective work in the meanwhile. I wasn't able to find out more about the Mon Cals, just more names of people claiming the've been one. Before i throw them in here i will definetely dig deeper to find out if it's just gossip or if it could be true. The ROTJ call sheets and daily production reports are usually a good source. Not 100 percent reliable, but a pretty good start. Unfortuantely i wasn't able to track down a complete archive of them, but at least i found a few of them. If anyone here should know of a source where i could get them that would be really great!

One of the call sheets i found answered at least my question regarding the Gamorrean Guard falling down to the Rancor Pit. The call sheet is listing Mark Hamill (Luke) and Simon J. Williamson as Pig Guard (Gamorrean)... AND Malcolm Weaver as Pig Guard Stuntman. In the description it's mentioned that Skulls, Bones etc. are needed for the pit as well as mattresses for the stuntman (to land on them after he slides down to the pit). So right now it looks, that Malcolm Weaver (he was also perfoming stunts in Indiana Jones, James Bond and many more movies) was the one sliding down to the Rancor and was then replaced by Simon who played the Gamorrean inside the pit (the scene togehter with Mark/Luke).
However, the scene where the trap door in Jabbas throne room is opening under the feets of Luke and the Gammorean was not filmed this day as there are no other people on the above call sheet. So it was filmed either earlier or later and this again could mean this specific stunt was performed by Malcolm again or maybe a different stuntman. I remember one person (not Malcolm) who said he was the one in the throne room falling down the trap door with Luke (replaced by his stuntman Colin Skeaping i guess) but i don't remember his name. So, more detective work necessary here...

Thanks for the hint with Tony Starr. I wasn't able yet to find him on any call sheets but based on his bio (he had some small roles as an actor and also was a singer) i would conclude he wasn't hired as an extra. I found some autographs online with his signature on shots inside jabbas throne room with all three Gamorreans present. Knowing one of the three is Hugh and the other one Simon there is a good chance the third one is him. As for now i'm only doing research on the UK crew and the following setup seems to be the most accurate for me:

    (UK) Gamorrean Guards:
    Simone J. Williamson
    Hugh Spight
    Tony Starr
    Malcolm Weaver (Stunts)
Barry Roberston (Extra, yet only confirmed to be on stills)

One last info on the Prunce Face trio at the Home One briefing room scene. Based on behind the scenes photos i was able to verify that the Prune face sitting to the left is definitely Trevor Butterfield, whilst the one sitting to the right is Colin Hunt (Orrimaarko). If someone should meet Trevor or Colin in the near future it would be great if you could ask them if they can confirm that it is Hugh sitting in the middle.

    So far...
