I am for the most part a loose collector. But I have the chance to purchase a rather large moc collection. I don't really know that much about the moc Star Wars world. I do know a lot of fakes exist. What is the common thing to look for? Here is a pic (bad one) of the boba fett that is in the lot.

Mintiest Vintage Star Wars Figure

Another thread, regarding the quality of paint application led me to ponder... what is the mintiest Star Wars figure.

Loose collectors, in particular if you are a bit of a dealer, often have many figures pass through their hands. Is there a figure that stands out as always seeming to be C9 condition?

On the flipside it seems that some figures always appear to be a little beat up. If you buy up a loose childhood collection on Ebay containing an R2 or an R5 then chances are the decals are discoloured or scratched up. Death Star Droid is another one that always seem to be in 'played with' condition rather than mint.

So which particular figures do seem to have stood the test of time better than others? Which figure would you name as the 'Mintiest' vintage Star Wars figure?

I have been thinking about getting into department store mailer box multipacks, but I have a lot of questions.

1. With the backlash toward the U grading phenomenon, I would think that opening mailer boxes would also be discouraged, but I haven't seen any discussion here about that. How do you feel about opening mailer boxes? I mean, in some cases, you are just looking at a plain brown box. What's the fun in that? Wouldn't you want to look at those gorgeous figures trapped inside? But once it is opened, there is no going back.

2. How rare are some of the early mailers (besides the early bird kit, which has been beaten to death here IMO), and what are they worth? Are they worth more sealed?

3. Any benefit to having a mailer graded? But then there's the opening thing again; doesn't AFA have to open the set to grade it?

Thanks,
Dan

I'm trying to reference some coo's on some figures and the Imperial Gunnery COO guide is only somewhat helpful.
Questions im stuck on at the moment after trying to search the forums on here for an answer -

Yoda coo #5.....is that Mecanno or?
Chief Chirpa #5 ....what is that??
..and one more thing, I also just picked up a squidhead who has slightly different paint/coloring and what seems to me to be a green cape but it has the made in hk markings. Could this be LL even with that coo? Lots of conflicting info out there leaves me wondering?

Any information is much appreciated!
Thanks :)

So...which lines do you think had the best painted figures? I would say that once Kenner got through the three lines(SW,ESB,ROTJ) they finally started to put out better figures. POTF was a start but, once Droids and Ewoks (cartoon line) were released they seem to have it in the bag. I rarely see bad paint applications on the Droids and Ewoks figures.

I don't have my Kellerman book handy and i was wanting to double check on variations since first print.
