View Full Version : Questions for Barry or anyone in the know at CE...

3 weeks to go and i/we/the fans would like definative answers to the following:

1) When will we be getting the tickets & lanyards? I booked mine with SEE Tickets, the OFFICAL ticker supplier.

2) When is the shop going to open? where are all the "goods" that we were told we could purchase from this exclusive store?

3) Where are the final guest announcments? Is there going to be a GOH?

3 weeks prior to CIV, the catalogue for the shop was available to look at, the guest were ALL confirmed. The excluisive prints, posters ect were all confirmed.

It would be nice to see the 35+ goods being made available in the shop. Believe it all not, we are not made of money, and many people have to save, scrape money together for the selected goods we can afford.

Surely its a case of getting the CIV catalogue, and swapping the $ logo for a £ logo is it not??? Thats how everything else seems to be working for CE.

I know things need to be finalised, confirmed, written in blood ect, but the lack of genuine, worthwhile updates (not those about a Vader ballon appearing!) is very disapointing.

"A lack on communication leads to frustration" as my old boss use to say.

If there is a CE2, and should the UK have it again, i hope the lessons of this event will be learned.

I have a feeling that Paris or Belin could be favourites next time http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

C'mon chaps, get it together and let us have some proper, genuine worthwhile updates, and fast. The clock is ticking....

To be honest updates for me aren't really necessary, as it's been announced pretty much whatís going to be there including guests. Mentioning guestsí being there generally is good enough, as we all know they are there subject to work commitments.

For years we've all lived with Showmasters not giving out any updates to their shows, so this is something we are all used to. Even when they did announce who was going to be there, half the time they never showed.

So getting the updates we do get from the CE organisers, is more than any other show we know of which is great.

Iíd rather the show be a surprise in general, itís more fun that way. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

nick are you sure youd rather have a surprise?
whos to say that they have much else for ce, theyre scrapping the bottom of the barrel with guests and with everything else their being pretty cagey.
as for guests not turning up look at jango, 1 of the few worth while guests and they take him off the board, no explanation like he was never there.
ive been looking forward to ce but the closer it gets the more worried im getting
3 good questions barry, alot of people have been thinking the same thing.

I don't agree with that at all but each to their own

Thatís true, but I've even spoke to guests that where supposed to turn up at Showmasters shows, and when i saw them next time round, they said "they didn't know nothing about the Show what so everĒ And that wasn't the only time.

Makes ya wonder what was going on, and it annoyed me having paid admission & train fares etc.

I'm just curious that no one is really having a stab at anything else, just mainly the guest part of everything. I think a lot of problems might be due to it being so close to C4, plus work commitments.

And at the end of the day everyone I know is looking at the bigger picture, not just the guests. Even if there where no guests, the show would be awesome as you can always get autographs anytime elsewhere.

The best thing they could have done is to push the event back to September, October to allow enough time aftr C4 to spread announcments out and have more time getting a guest list simular to C4

Actually, the updates for CIV just started about 3 weeks before the show. The catalogue wasn't online until the Friday before the show, just 6 days prior to the show's opening. Yes the guest list turned out to be finished, but OPX was still working on getting 3 more Guests of Honor to attend, although it fell through with all 3. I would be upset with the guest list not being done at this point too but there is still plenty of time for content updates.

Here is the list of CIV updates with the date it was posted, copied directly from SW.com

And STILL no offical reply from anyone at CE http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Must be REALLY busy finalising the best SW convention outside the USA http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, they are busy as today I received the finalised floor plans for the fan area, which hopefully indicates to everyone that they are getting the nitty gritty issues finalised first and foremost.

I also believe your swapping $'s to £'s theory was answered in another thread.

Barry took the time to read and post a month or so ago, but has been quiet since then. His member's ID is CE_Office.

I wrote him two Fridays ago and he wrote me the next day. HE said that the rest of the signers would be announced Friday . . . that was 2 Fridays ago - LOL. Obviously the autograph area is not his top priority. I do suggest that you all go to the Vader Helmet exhibit. I went at C4 - it was my favorite event to see. They have added more British artists to this showing, it should be cool.
I was sad to see that the archive exhibit is just a rehash of C4. I was hoping they would have different exhibits. This had been a highlight at the last 3 celebrations.

Common guys, it's less than 2 weeks until the gates to CE will open. A wild guess
is that Barry & co have a few other things to do at the moment http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif I can't even imagine
how much work it takes to arrange a con like this.

And the best guests haven't been officially announced yet and they are the ones I
really looking forward to meet. All the SW fans from all over the world.

where are the tickets / lanyards ??

Spoke to See tickets, they have no date when they will receive them http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Any announcements due this month on guests or the opening date of the "offical" shop??

I'm assuming the shop is open when CE is open, as it's inside the event halls but I thought that was a given.

I mean the online shop where i can pre order all the expensive goodies being made available for us CE fans.

To be honest I don't quite see there being a demand for that kind of service for this one. I expect the shop to be busy and contain plenty of merchandise, but I really don't see it going down the route of the US shows where you basically spend the whole day queing to get into the shop. That's just my guy reaction and I hope I'm right because I've experienced the US Celebration shop and it was shocking, lol.

The jist is, I don't think the shop should be a major concern at the mo and while it would be nice to know what's on offer, it will be a nice surprise to find out on the day. And the shop has been well accommodated for from what I've seen http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
If you're still concerned though, make that your priority when the doors open on Friday. If you're first in the queue then you'll have first pickings.

Where are the tickets? when are they being posted?

Does anyone who posts on these boards, who says that they are in "the know" about what goes on, and has seen plans, guests, items for sale ect..offer an answer to this question?

The clock is ticking, and given the fact that the RM are not the fastest at delivery items, i'd be much happier knowing i have them in hand, rather than spending most of next week chasing CE / SEE Tickets.

People from the FanForce have phoned and been told tickets will be dispatch with-in 72 hrs as of today.
But to be on the safe, turn up to CE with a print-out of your ticket confirmation order e-mail, the card you made the payment with (or a signed letter by the card holder if it isn't yours, with the card number included) and photo ID.

Ok so wheres the best place to get tickets from?
Id rather turn up with tickets in hand than have to collect on the Friday or does it really matter?

Thanks
