View Full Version : Celebration Europe? 1 or 3 days?

Definately want to go to this as its only down the road for me but still pondering whether to buy just a one day pass for the first day or go the whole hog and get a 3 day pass.

I know on different days they are having different guests signing but are they charging per autograph?

Also does anyone know (or had any gossip) concerning what Gentle Giant may have as a convention exclusive?

What?
Where?
When?

I'm intrigued.

Have a look at the official site: www.celebrationeurope.com. (http://www.celebrationeurope.com.)

I was wondering the same thing, whether to go for one day, or all three. If its as big a CIV (which is going to be huge by all accounts), then we may need more than one day.
No guests have been listed yet.

Oh, also regarding autographs, if its like CIV, then you'll have to pay for them. That seems to be the norm now. They are working on a coupon basis. Coupons are going to be sold for $10 each. Some guests are 1 coupon, some are 2, the rest are 3.
So I would hazard a guess that the minimum you'll have to shell out for a sig is 10.

I will probably go for all 3. I'm waiting to see who is coming and on what days.
Over in the TFN CE Guest thread someone posted that Dave Prowse has the event on his schedule as does Lightning Bear (stuntman). And I'd be surprised if Jeremy Bulloch isn't there since he lives in the UK.

I'm in for all 3 days, but regards the autographs - so glad I'm going to CIV first - the exchange rate works in my favour!

Hi Guys. New to the forum here so Hello

I'm going to CE all 3 days and hope to see some of you there.

A note of interest is that i have emailed several guests who normally attend events ( 2 of them are going to CIV) and they all came back with the answer that Invitations have not been sent out yet? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This event is surely going to cost me around 1000 as i want 1 auto from each guest and there are rumours of between 75 and 150 guests going

That's the rumour that's going around. Considering almost all the cast from the original trilogy live in the UK it is quite likely.

I assume though that if they do go for the 100 mark or so i would expect alot of the guests to be past Empire Day ones like the stormtrooper guys

Of course that is only a rumour

Jose_Fiuza

Now seriously, I don't how many from the cast attended CIII, or are expected to be present at CIV, for that matter.

But I wish that rumor to be true...

I may be wrong but i think it is certainly possible to get that many guests for Celebration Europe but not Celebration 4.

As London is fairly sentral and easy to get to, it won't be too much hassle for guests to simply pop along to do the signings.

The problem for Celebration 4 is that it's in the US. If the Organisres want guests from the sequals then they need to provide guests with Hotels and and flights. Same for the prequal guests as i believe alot of them are in Australia.

That is not a problem for Sequal guests who live in England but does also mea that we will probably get FAR more sequal signers than Prequal signers. Although i don't mind that

Saying that Celebration 3 had a good 42 guests attending and they have said that this year will have far more.

I'm probably talking alot of rubbish, bbut that's my view

I really need to start getting stuff which i want to get signed. I was planning on getting the Original Trilogy cast to sign a poster ( or 3) but realised that it might be too much hassle

For the Prequal guests i am definately going to be using 8x10 photos. It's the OT cast that i'm not sure about.

I was planning to buy them from Official Pix as they look nice but i am stuck for the huests for minor roles as they don't have photos for alot of them. And it's these guests that we mainly get here in the UK.

I don't know what to do. Poster would be nice but it's the issue of transporting it

I don't know if they are going to have a different company do the Celebration Europe photos or showmasters who usually have really bad 'studio shot' photos on offer. I like in film ones

What do you guys reckon?

But since I'm also deeply into clones, Temuera Morrison's would do just fine. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I hope he's going... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Temuera s a great guy. I've met him once. Where as i would like him to attend, i hope the event is not just full of prequal guests.

I reckon he is someone would be likely to attend though

Lol I'm just the opposite. I've met most of the OT peeps over the years and want to see some of the more obscure prequel people like Oliver Ford Davies, Lewis McCleod etc.

I too would some Prequal guests, don't get me wrong. However, this event is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of a new hope, so i am hopoing most of the guests are from that film.

I would vertainly welcome prequal guests that have a significant role in the movies like Brian Blessed, Temuera Morrison, Amy Allen, Bruce Spence and certainly Silas Carson (i want to meet him so badly) and if we are lucky, someone like Jake Llyod and Hayden Christensen

I agree totally about the kind of photos on offer and im not a big fan of OP at all, I think a lot of their prints are of average quality and the variety of in-film shots is really poor. I did go to Empire Day 17 and although it was a great day, Showmasters prints were generally poor aswell. I preferred a lot of the Prequel photos but there were only 2 or 3 to choose from per guest. It depends how much time they have to go through the archive and unforunately they tend to settle on the bland studio shot thinking 'they will do'
I was at the Cardiff Xmas sci-fi show and a few of those guys were there for charity and their prints were far better than the Showmasters and OP ones, actually GLOSSY instead of OP's more matte surfaces and colors more vibrant. I asked one guest, Zac Kohen, where they were from and he said they were their own made by an image house recommended by convention-guests.com because of the great quality. I said they look better than OP ones and he didnt say anything but smiled in agreement..

I am sure that the pictures that will be on offer will be of a high quality, and that every guest will have official photos of some kind instead of the ratty laser prints that many of them turn up to shows with. After all, CE is official and LFL won't want us going home with shabby merchandise.

As for OPX, all their prints are on real photographic paper. It isn't like they go down to Staples and buy a pack of Kodak printer paper - they are all produced on a high quality photographic reproduction machine. And the selection comes from a digital library that LFL owns so it isn't like they can get screen grabs from a DVD.

I'm afraid I'm not 19 any longer (39 to be exact), but I'll be there for all 3 days and hopefully meet some interesting Star Wars fans! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif It's going to be packed out and can be lonely if on your own! I haven't got any set itinerary for the time I'm there though!

I'm hoping to meet up with someone and meet the signers with them. If they don't mind carrying the odd poster tube and taking the odd photo here and there i will happily return the favour. You can use my camera to have photos with the guests and i won't mind putting them on a disc for you or emailing them to you.

It would be cool to to CE with someone from the USA as i love the Americans, they crack me up http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is anyone around my age traveling to CE from the US? I wouldn't mind helping you out with Accomidation and helping you to get around.

I would offer a bed to stay as well but my parents aren't keen on the idea. I'll work on that though

Yes. I do. And I posted about it in the swap meet thread (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2449914&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#2449914) last week.

Toilets, ah yes. That's the one thing I'd have to complain to ExCel about. You have to go three flights down to find any. And they aren't that obvious either. I think I'll post about this in the convention tips thread.

Three flights of steps to get to the toilets you say jeremy, man it's going to be a nightmare in armour trying to get to the loo's. Gonna check out in getting one of those caphitors fitted so i don't need to use em http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just to add, I got my confirmation for me & my Family to Attend. Barry said we would be contacted with details& passes etc. Is that by Email, or would it be by post?

I know for the UK Toy fair, you could print Passes off from the email.
