We don't know what the event exclusives will be but I'll bet there will be enough to fill more than one shopping bag. Speculate, suggest and report here.

About the Hasbro exclusive, we've got a POTF2 C-3PO (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/potf2_european_photo_archive_c3po_46808.asp) in blue box and a Clonetrooper/Super BD 2-pack (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/photo_archives_jedicon_2004_convention_exclusive_t wopack_47596.asp) in the last Euro conventions.

I see well this time HASBRO offering an exclusive clonetrooper and maybe with an other character.

For myself I would prefer a multipack with characters of all 6 movies in a vintage style packaging.

Exclusives, or not, I'll be paying special atention to everything 'Yoda', Gentle Giant busts (any flavor) and more especially Kotobukiya's clone troopers (so far I only own a Yoda and the 501st trooper). If those happen to be exclusives, so much the better. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Assuming that there'll be 'exclusives' (and I would be very much surprised if there weren't any...) who do you guys think could make them? Licensees from the US or european ones? Or both, even?

I believe that you find that most companies who have licence's for Star Wars stuff who want to display at the show, will have it written into they contracts for Licence's that they must produce exclusives for any major Star Wars events.

Let me see if I understood you correctly. You say that SW licensees can only release an exclusive when it is specified in their contract?

Sadly, I must agree.

For the last Jedi Con I expected something more than a simple repack of figures that were basically clearenced out in all shops of Germany (the Jedi Con was held in Germany).

I did hope that they wopuld have something better at the Jedi Con.

Alas, that didn't happen.

I do believe we Europeans deserve truly Exclusives like Jorg Sacul, the 501st Stormtroper, or the CIII Vader.

But on the other hand I don't see - sorry to be that harsh - any interest within Lucasfilm or within Hasbro to honour the numbers of European collectors with that, otherwise they would've done that during earlier european-wide conventions like the JediCon.

I can only believe what i can see, and what I can see are cheap, stupid repacks for the Europeans, meanwhile the Americans get truly unique exclusive figures.

"Ein Schelm, der Böses dabei denkt", as we say here in Germany. (It's a saying of great irony.)

The more I think about it, the more angry I become about it. To me, it appears as if the European collectors were far less important than American collectors.

I can see it with other items never (or only at insanely high prices) appearing on European markets, too.

Jeremy
08-12-2006, 11:07 AM
"Ein Schelm, der Böses dabei denkt

"A Schelm, which thinks bad thereby"?

You have to love Google's language tools!

I'm 99% positive that there will be exclusives because Cards Inc, who has the license for the event also has the European license for giftware so there will be items like bobbleheads, mugs, pins and such. But I suspect that the really sought-after exclusive will be the 3-3/4" toys. If Hasbro does any that is.

Alrik, stop using Google (or Altavista's Babel Fish, for that matter) to translate into English. It's not 'replay', but 'reply'.

You were fooled by an online dictionary... tsk, tsk... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

AlrikFassbauer

I didn't use it ! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif Anyway, I would've used LEO instead. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Automatic translaters are kind of infamous here, because they are able to create stuff that *really* makes people ROFL here. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The problem with translating into other languages is, that the English language has a rather "shortened" grammar - compared to the grammar of more complex languages, like German, for example. Frederick Bodmer write in his book "The Loom of Language" that the German language currently is in a state that the English language was approx. 500 years ago. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
By the way, this book has become one of my favourites, because it expains fairly well European languages, their origins and their grammar. Plus, several languages of the world. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif I cannot say how "serious" this book is - in an academic sence - because I'm not very deep into linguistics. I simply love languages as a hobby. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And yes, sometimes I think faster than my fingers can follow on the keyboard ... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What do you think they are the chance they would offer some current/future SWS exclusives like the the Lucas Collection or the upcoming Kanos/Jax set ?

Gsr0jedi
09-12-2006, 12:32 AM
I think some of the companies will come and I hope they bring exclusive exclusives. GG has shown with the Blackhole Stormtrooper, they'll go across the globe to sell an exclusive, so I'd guess they could have something. Sideshow seems to have a big following in the UK and they do cater to them by having a European warehouse, so they could do something. MR & Acme, may not have something unique. Of course, this is all speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.

AlrikFassbauer
09-19-2006, 04:39 PM
4-Inches pointed out to an interesting detail : They write that Hasbro is making exclusives - there is a plural form.

So, I believe there is some slight chance Europe could finally see it's own exclusive.

To put it rather extreme (with my typical tendency towards ranting), I could say, if this is true, then Europe as a collecting place seems to finally get the respect it deserves.

It will always work out more expensive for our US friends though. I think I saw a report in the paper the other day with countries average hourly wage, we in the UK were close to or just above £6 an hour where I think the US is $2.50 or something stupid.

I thought minimum wage was something like £4.50 or a fiver an hour? Pretty sure it must be, or there are tons of employers looking to get a visit from the govt.
Depending on whereabouts in the country I'd say £6 an hour is about average. I get £6.75 or so at the moment and am having a hell of a time finding a job that I want to do that pays more.
I just about [censored] when I saw 65 an hour! That's pimping prices.

This bit sounds 'citin!

Working on top secret, yet-to-be announced features, a team of artisans at Weird & Wonderful in Herts, England, are creating environments that will give Celebration Europe the look and feel of a galaxy far far away, and transport visitors into the world of Star Wars.

Weird & Wonderful specializes in the spectacular, with an archive of movie props, costumes, and replicas. Many of the team work in the film, television and theatrical industries, and are employing techniques and methods currently used in the construction of actual movie sets. Especially for Star Wars Celebration Europe they are recreating some of those sets with a feel of 1970s authenticity.

For Celebration IV, quantities of the action figures will be limited per person, based on which admission badge is purchased. Those purchasing 4-day badges will be able to purchase four of the droid figure packs, while supplies last. There are four Imperial symbols on the bottom left of the 4-day badge; these symbols will be punched to show the number of action figures purchased. Those with 1-day badges have one Imperial symbol on their badges, and can purchase one figure pack. Badges will be punched at time of purchase.

Bad news from Hasbro's 28th STAR WARS Q&A

</font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font>

Rebelscum: Will the McQuarrie droid exclusives be available on Hasbro.com or Star Wars Shop or eventually in retail but in non-exclusive packaging? Please say yes and say it won't be too long after the end of May 2007!

Hasbro: There are no plans, right now at least, to make the droids available other than at Celebration IV, (the same goes for the Europe version). Gencon (the group organizing Celebration), not Hasbro, is the actual retailer for this product, so they are setting the strategy for their own exclusive.

However, the McQuarrie Luke is a HasbroToyShop.com exclusive, so we have more control over that. If we do make it available online through HasbroToyShop.com, it won't be for some months after the Convention unless there is leftover Convention inventory.

So much for it being a convention exclusive. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It never was a Celebration Europe exclusive. None of the Sideshow or Gentle Giant items are being offered as Celebration Europe exclusives because those companies are not interested in European collectors. They are however allowing the non-attendee stock (i.e. non-Celebration packaged pieces) to be sold at general retail. This is why FP have had them all.

Not Just FP = Diamond Comics have already offered the Space worm Diorama and I expect the other SSC peices to be offered too. I just wish FP had got all the SS peices and bought them only too CE and then offered the remaining stock thru their site AFTER the event. and the same for Another retailer with the GG stuff !

Not that I am greedy, I am part of a collecting club and the LA convention is 4 days..so they can buy 4 of each figure, CE is a 3 day con and does that mean we can only get 3 of each?

I personally only want one of each, but like to help fellow collectors who cannot attend?

especially since it is the CE version, I am the only one from my group going.

any idea if they will make equal concessions for this?

I know the alotment of other exclusives is 70%/30%... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Another CE exclusive:

http://www.rebelscum.com/story/euro/CE_More_Exclusives_105195.asp

OK, it's not a true exclusive because it was on offer on the Sideshow website, but this is the first time it has been sold "offline".

Quantities are incredibly limited.

CE have just mailed me saying that there will be an exclusive Hasbro collectors coin (run in conjunction with The Sun) and Anthony Grandio, the US chequbook printers, will have an exclusive one-sheet available. More here:

I'll be picking one of these up as long has it's not charged at $100-$150 price tag that some CIV prints were.

I have a feeling the £ to $ will not work in our favour once the artists arrive in the UK. I hope that its not $30 = £30 http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

i've been in contact with a couple of artists and they said that 'the promoters' have said that if it sells for (eg) $30 then you can get £30
so don't expect the favorable rates at the moment

mattman81

That seems incredibly unfair to me and puts me off buying a print straight away.

I too had spoke to many artists, and some have reserved prints for me and bringing them to London. I will be paying the US price for the prints as they were available in the US. I expect a slight increase for CE as the artist is having to ship the prints to the UK, however, i will not be paying £30 for a $30 print, that is too much to ask http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Some artists wanted $100-$150 for a print, they will not get anything like that for them here in the UK.

Lets hope a middle ground is found, otherwise many artists could be going home with as many prints as they brought!

Bly will be on sale on July 12th. I was at FP London last week and they're making quite a big deal about it http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm afraid I haven't come across the ACME keyrings but I'm sure someone here may know.

I was wondering if anyone could advise, I have attended conventions before but never a Star Wars one like this. I was wondering does anyone know if you can pre-order (or are they planning to do this) prior to the event so that you pay in full and say have a limited amount you can buy etc...
Or is this all dealt with by other means ie you turn up and queue and wait your turn and if they have got it when you get to the front your in luck.
Also how does the autograph ticket thing work can you purchase these in advance of the event or just over the weekend?

Apologises for the all the questions
Thanking you in advance
Matt

That's what I'm trying to find out!!!!! I heard that they will be bringing all unsold Bly's to the convention and putting any left after the con up for sale on their website......OK....are there really going to be any left on Thursday night?? Since they haven't (as far as I can find) announced what the 'limit' is going to be....I can see people coming out of the store with cases of these things and not enough for everyone who shows up Thursday night at the store!!.. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I might be able to get to Forbidden Planet Thursday night. My worry is that I'll be getting into London that morning. (I'm from the States) I have to get to my hotel and check in. Then.....find the subway.....and find Forbidden Planet..by myself.. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I think I should be OK, but I'll be honest......I'm a little worried. Hopefully it won't take long to get to the hotel and check in, etc. That should give me enough time to try to find my way through a city that I'm not familiar with. *crosses fingers and hopes others wish me luck http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If I knew for a fact that they would have some at the convention.......I'd just take it easy that first day....and not try to kill myself while trying to find a store to buy some silly Star Wars toy....ah well.....
collecting is an addiction, eh?

This is what I was trying to find out....and this is the response I just received from Forbidden Planet staff.....

"Hi,

Thank you for your email. To answer your email:
The Commander Bly bust will be available from our store from 5pm on the day of the event. At present there is no limit on how many a customer may buy, but I expect this to be changed on the day or before to a limit of one or two per customer.
We are hoping that we will not have sold out by the end of the event at our store and will be able to take some to the Celebration IV convention. We cannot be certain of this and therefor cannot guarantee there will be stock available to buy at the convention - though it is more than likely that there will be.
If there are any remaining after Celebration IV these will be made available through our website.

I believe this answers your questions but if you believe we have missed anything else then please get in touch.

That answered my questions....hope it helps the rest of you too! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif
