Please use this thread to discuss any potential Rey figures that we may see in the TLJ toyline.

all depends on Hasbro if it will be another #WheresRey moment. I have a feeling that we will see a Rey figure (but I think it will be another Jakku version). if it is a new version of her based on her look in TLJ than I have a feeling she will be short packed and HTF. they may even hold off on her until the release of TLJ

I don't see any reason for them to hold off on releasing her this time. The last time, they wanted to hide that she used a lightsaber. What's there to hide this time.

I'm sure her figure will be front and center on this line.
We've already seen the packaging.
And the new tunic, colors, hairstyle, gauntlets on the sleeves, etc... will all be featured in a brand new figure pretty much leading the line.

Hopefully her brand-new double-bladed lightsaber.

true.. true... but she was seen throughout the trailers for TFA and still the Starkiller base version was difficult for many people to find, and that figure had zero spoilers for the film. I mean the figure came in her standard outfit thoughout the whole film and her staff and bag accessories plus the BAW part. what's to say that Hasbro won't short pack her again based on the concept of Jyn not selling very well in the RO assortment, as well as the recent Jakku Rey from RO wave 2? I think if anything I can Hasbro Hasbro re-releasing the recent RO Rey in TFA packaging and waiting on the TLJ Rey until closer to the film's release.

lol, kudos to the game for a movie leak! Pretty cool look actually, and I definitely want that figure in SA!
Although if you notice it says movie still only, not "actual" in game image. So they're able to share an official image, but not use it in the game.

are you implying that Rey is going to turn out to be "Jaina Solo" twin character?

If Disney would do things right, IMO, she would be, and Jaina WOULD be her name, with Rey being the name given to hide her identity. And had they really done things right, Han would have shouted "Jacen!" instead of "Ben," Of course, this could have been easily fixed with a re-dubbing when the DVD came out, or else have Ben turn out to be Jacen's middle name" - lame in a way, I know, but we got Thrawn back from the Zahn Trilogy - why not give us back the two other biggest names to come from that series not named Mara Jade?

Masterfett
05-18-2017, 05:36 PM
Well, if we're going to get crazy. His name could be Jacen Benjamin Solo, but they call him "Ben" for some reason. For whatever reasons people go by their middle name, or are assigned nicknames. Having a little more insight on him growing up could help. Rey could be Jaina, but why she goes by a different name isn't clear. Especially since she was old enough to know it when she was abandoned. Again, more insight into her earlier life is needed. But it seems a stretch for her to be a Solo based on the premise TFA lays out. I'd buy her as a Skywalker before that. Unless Leia doesn't even know her own Daughter...

bob_solo
05-18-2017, 06:35 PM
Actually, the way Han is somewhat dismissive of Rey being captured to Finn, and that hug at the end between Leia and Rey, lead me to believe that, if my theory were true, they both know she is their daughter, but are sworn to secrecy for reasons to be revealed by Luke. As for Rey not knowing her name, there have been theories of Luke using the Force to wipe away memories, so that's always a possibility.

Masterfett
05-18-2017, 08:59 PM
But it's difficult to tell whether that look of sorrow is due to Han's death, or her "knowing" who Rey really is. One would assume the former.

DarkArtist
05-26-2017, 12:14 PM
if Rey turns out to be a long lost Solo daughter I'll be disappointed. I really want her to be a Skywalker (as this is all about the Skywalkers). I kinda liked the theory that she might be a Kenobi at one point but I doubt that highly.

but I wonder what fans would think if she is the daughter/heir to Snoke? kinda a new version of Anakin conceived by the dark side of the Force?

Masterfett

Even if she does tun out to be a Solo child, she's still a Skywalker. From a certain point of view. ;)

I think it's a given that we will see a repack of her in the Resistance Base outfit as that's the only outfit we see her in so far in the trailer... unless of course Hasbro goes in a different direction with all new sculpts.. personally I want her in SA form in her Resistance Outfit

I'm almost predicting Hasbro will do a similar thing like the Dagobah Training Luke with the switchable arms to show the notable training positions like the ones we may see in TLJ (e.g. sitting meditation Rey) with a swappable torso (like the Slave Leia figure). Hopefully, there won't a distracting multi-joint Rey like the Black Series Dagobah Training Luke.

this could be a cool idea... I'd even go for the old OTC Collection Dagobah Luke with the swapable heads and arms. I still love that figure as one of my favorites of Dagobah training Luke. I have 2 myself on display as I wanted both versions. I think if they did a multi-jointed version of Rey it would look beyond hideous...

I'd love to see Hasbro attempt 3.75" figures with the life-like flesh skin similar to some of the 12" collector dolls on the markets. have a wire armature underneath that can finally give us figures that can mimic human poses etc. I'm sure the price would be $$$$$$ but it's a thought

Masterfett

I just don't think it would work, it barely works for 12". IMO
However, if they could mimic whatever made stretch Armstrong work th way he did when I was a kid. They might be able to pull it off. Problem is there's a lot more safety restrictions on Toys nowadays, so they probably can't anymore. lol

This exactly my thought. Yes, wrapped robes etc are a common theme throughout the Star Wars Galaxy, But it looks like she just dyed her old Jakku clothes and put on some long pants. Jedi Luke's look was very different from his Tatooine clothes. I would have thought Rey would take a bigger step toward a change from her old clothes.

Agreed completely. It really does look like she just dyed her old outfit. Or that's the only way she knows how to wear clothes.

Neither is a very interesting option.

As opposed to the other Jedi, whose outfits changed drastically from film to film? :)

But, she's not a Jedi yet. ;) Not to mention that she's decades past the narrow dogmatic view of the old Jedi, No? Plus the fact Luke was supposed to train a new era of Jedi. And judging by his outfit in ROTJ, I would have guessed that the trappings of old were the first thing to go.

Luke's outfit in Jedi was supposed to be what the Jedi wore. When episode 1 came out they changed the look to match Ben kenobi....even though he was just wearing tatooine clothes.

Luke's clothes in TFA look just like a white version of his Rotj with a longer skirt. His undershirt is exactly the same. Collar, flap, same style sleeves.

I hate that the PT gave us "jedi" robes that were all the same. Doesn't really make sense. Also it was lame that they were all based off old Obi-Wans tatooine clothes. Why would obi wan old, exiled and secluded and potentially hiding his identity desperately wear his old jedi robes?! And why would tatooine civilians wear clothes that were just like jedi robes. It was typical Lucas nonsense that he hadn't actually thought through. It's all cos he was caught up trying to disguise the fact that he was making up everything on the fly.

Deak_Starkiller
08-20-2017, 10:00 AM
John Mollo did a sketch for Obi-Wan in Tatooine farmer clothes, but was likely cut due to budget reasons. IIRC, the idea was for him to put on his Jedi garb just prior to his Alderaan trip in the third draft of the story.

Which seems odd really, considering his penchant for elaborate costumes. Granted this was before the PT era, where he went wild. But why he decided to go that route, IDK... It's almost like in some instanced he just didn't care, and wanted the easiest way out. While it doesn't bother me too much, i wish he had designed them differently. But I understand the concept/reasoning of making them seem like monks.

As for figures, I'm kind of glad it worked out that way. Could you imagine every Jedi with a unique outfit? There would have been a few figures we likely never would have gotten if that were the case. lol
Also, I never really got the "Jedi vibe" with Luke's ROTJ outfit. It just felt like average clothes he chose to wear.

Deak_Starkiller
08-20-2017, 11:18 AM
And yet I personally wonder what was going through George's head back in the day upon his comments about Luke's outfit being 'similar' to the first film and being more 'Jedi-like'. A good chuck of Nilo Rodis Jamero's costume design didn't vary that much at all with only variances to the collar area so it obviously met with his stamp of approval. Personally, I think he was just bum tired during costume fitting day.

I thought the whole idea behind the outfits of the Jedi was that they purposely chose simple outfits like those of moisture farmers/outer rim dwellers so they did not give the appearance of putting themselves above the general populace, by appearing in elaborate garments.

Well, that was the post-facto "explanation" for what was obviously a dumb choice or outright mistake.
